Well today was MOT day... you gues it, she failed.
Emissions. Last year had a new Cat and lambda... surley these couldn't have failed already, only done 4000miles for the year. Heard that there could be other sensors that have failed, anyone know what they could be??
Shes going back to the garage tomorrow for a full diagnostic, will this find the fault? or am i just throwing money away. Will this mean i need another Cat and lambda?

Please adivse, going spare over this as moneys a bit tight at the mo.

maybe u tell us what car u are talking about? with different cars it hard to say. Do u have had problems with it, bad mpg, power loss/low power etc
lambda and cat are last things, that get whatever engine is giving > over fueling ruins lambda(u might get it working if u get problem fixed) in matter of days/weeks and cat probably hangs alot longer... etc.

Yes there is a loss of power: 3yrs ago when i bought her she had a BHG. After new one fitted along with new injectors and timing belt power was restored. Over the few weeks that followed power was gradually lost. MPG is around 30. Ticks over at 750-800rpm smoothly no lumping.Last year renewed coolant along with thermostat/housing and since owning changed oil/filter every 6mths.

Is there fuel? Is there air? Is there compression?

guess its 1.6, so i would recomend u to check injectors for sure... and u might try, if some silinder is not working, since i think ur idle shuld be 850 . on my 1.6 rpm basically not moving what so ever when idleing warm.
is ur air filter ok?

Air filter is new, 2mths old. Sorrybit miss-leading, when i said 750-800rpm, didn't mean it was moving up and down. That is what i make out the needle is sitting on. I thought that the injector light would show on the dash if they were at fault? Could it be the MAP sensor? Will find out today as she goes back for a full diagnostic. Will report the findings.

well when my cars injector failed, i got light up, but diagnostic only showed an lambda error - since its was too dirty it couldnt read. so ad garage they changed it and for allmost a week... maybe 100km drive and light was back.. whent there agen and they wanted to change lambda agen... so i just sent them **** and started looking for info.. found this forum that helped me...

Diagnostic in-conclusive.. no fault showing. At least Cat and lambda ok. They now believe it may be the throttle body sticking open, so tomorrow, round two, throttle body clean out.

Throttle body was cleaned out, no joy, emmisions still the same.
Not sure what to do, got till 16 August to decide on repair or scrap.

Any ideas what could be causing this?????

it shuld be cat, since it shuld clear "so small" peaks away... and if ur enine would give out too much o2(i belive they mesure it as co???) it shuld be showed by lambda... and considering ur readings... my car gives about same but i dont have cat... so heres my bet.
i think my car gave 0.8 -0.9 for CO. My car is registed w/o cat so i dont need to but 1 and eaven they knew it shuld have... it would be too much bother... so its little gift from prev owner...

Well, saga continues...still not fixed. Compression test and timeing checked, all good.
Garage now suspects the Cat faulty. Obtaining a quote will find out tomorrow.

OH!!! forgot to update from 2yr ago , was the Cat, turns out garage (same but different mechanic) fitted wrong cat yr before. as this was proven and was still under 12mths, got the correct Cat and fitted FREE. Never had trouble since.
