Technical 1.4 SPI or MPI

The 1.4 12v was only ever SPI.

Even though the 1.2 does have the same BHP the 1.4 has a faster 0-60 and more torque.

Ive been thinking about setting up MPI and a custom ECU (like Megasquirt) on my 1.4 if i ever get a bottom end to fix it.

Theres a lot of info about custom ECU's in the cinquecento section.

I've a neighbour who claims his 1.4 Brava is MPI, I never seen his engine and doubted his word on this.

Wonder if that would help the appalling fuel consumption.
I've been considering selling my 1.4S and buying a 1.2 with higher spec, but Bravo's are a bit thin on the ground this far North :(

Im finding that good Bravo/a' are getting thin on the ground full stop.

Adrian is right the 1.4 12v only ever came as a SPI, and ther were no major technical mofifications to it either.

The only gripe I have about mine is its a "S" base model so a bit low on equipment and the awfull fuel consumption around town, be as well with a 1.6 or even better a 1.8 :D but then theres the higher VED tax to pay and the car was supposed to be a cheap run about.

I almost bought an S just because it does not have a sunroof, and planed to upgrade it to a HLX spec.

I think the car looks better without a sunroof and obviously the leaky problems arnt there.

Sunroof bit doesnt really bother me, unless it leaks. some peole say non-sunroof cars have stiffer bdy shells and handle better.
As I really like the way the wee car handles and drives I had considered upgrading mine, with higher spec dash instruments, electric windows and colour coded bumpers. But thought the 1.2 might be a better base to start from.

Oh and then theres the fact I get a bit of clutch judder pulling away when cold, dissapears after a few miles, but might have to consider a clutch change in the future if I hold onto it.
