Hi guys....

Decided on Saturday to change the Spark Plugs and Air Filter on my car. Simple job I thought. Spark plugs were no problem at all but the Air Filter was a nightmare. The screws have been done up so tightly that the bonding for the brass thread has broken, so you can't get the lid out off the box. Tried all sorts to get the box off the car in one piece so we could get the screws out but was still struggling. Took into into a garage, leaving 15 minutes later with no new air filter in the car and the fcukwit who tried to help, ended up wrecking the mounting at the back of the box snapping it completely. I now need to get hold of a new air filter box, but dont want to pay the £106 I have been quoted by Fiat. Does anyone on here have one knocking about after having fitted an induction kit that they might want to get rid of? Any help would be much appreciated!

Also, does anyone have a bonnet grille that they don't need anymore in the colour mine is in? The clips on either end of mine are shot so everytime you drop the bonnet the ends pop off.....

Cheers again guys....

Hi Sean

You will get an airbox from a scrapyard for £5-10 easily

My grill also has a broken clip it makes me cry sometimes. There is one like yours in a scrapyard near me but broken too. Try scrap yards again but wont be as easy as an airbox, or you could get a new grill painted up they are on ebay.

i took my grill off and glued the metal bolts back on either end and screwed back in place worked a treat use epoxy and clean all threads up cover in coper grease to make it easy to fix and remove maybe at a letter date

the grill it's self is probably not expensive from fiat

I had the same thing with my Y reg 1.2 - bolts just seem to seize in the brass inserts in the bottom of the box. I managed to force them out / cut off bolt heads, but snapped off one corner of the lid. Will probably be able to Araldite it back Ok though.

I was planning a new air filter - genuine FIAT or maybe a K & N panel - but I got a bit confused as to whether all Petrol Bravas/Bravos take the same filter or not - a lot of the time it gives the same part for 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.6 /1.8, but the K & N certainly has different code for the 1.2 filter.

Any comments?

I have a K&N panel filter on my 1.4 It was worth every single penny, made the car more responsive.

Try checking the K&N website, that’s what i did then just put the part it gave me in ebay and pressed buy it now. I did want a greenstuff panel filter but couldn’t find anyone with stock.

My filter box threads were knackerd also, so i wipped it out and added a k&n cone filter. So worth it, sounds awsome and drives better.
