Can anyone tell me what this wire is in my engine bay? One wire is black the other is green and white. The plug is near the washer bottle in the left front corner. nothing is connected to it :p
i think its for the foglights, but i cant be sure.

Just had a thought are there any door cards with a grey/black one colour fabric.
only the mk2 HGT, but they have a different coloured platic to mk1 models so if your car is a mk1 (s reg or older) the mk2 HGT door cards will look a bit silly.

you can recover your material sections with any material you want. take the dor card off a d then remove the material section (glued on with melted plastic), give it a spray with some spray glue then attach whatever material you like.

imo you're better off fitting a full mk1 HLX or mk1 HGT interior if you've got a mk1 bravo. its got a blue/purple pattern but it looks good as far as patterns go.

i'll never understand why patterns are used on any car interior, plain materials look so much better.

Nice one jug.

Im not so sure about that wire. As I already have two connectors where fog lights would go, Unless that is the other end.

Ill see what my local scrap yards have to offer, probably end up putting my fabric on a replacement door card frame.

That K&N Panel filter has made a big difference. :D

So What grill do you think I should get?

As my grill is broken (and Ii dont like its style) im going to get another to test my paint and paint preparation skills,

Original Mk1 SX

Brava Shiny grill

This is my car bellow.
I think the colour will effect your choice. I am leaning toward the Mk2 Grill, Though I think the Brava grill looks good on black Bravos it may look good on mine because my alloys are the same bright silver colour.

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

Think ill get a mk2 grill.

Anyway sorted my door card problem. Got another one from a scrap yard pulled of my colour coded fabric and put it on the new frame.

Its taken a week and a half because I only have 3 G clamps :p

Tips for anyone else;
1.Test different glues on spare bits to see what works best. I used no more nails exterior.
2.Make sure the surfaces you are gluing is clean. Especially plastics because they are normally covered in silicon from the factory mold. I sanded and cleaned mine.
3.Be patient. Give the glue plenty of time to stick, and use clamps to hold it tight.

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

Right Ive been rubbing this light down for over 4hours.
It only had light scratches so I started with 400gritt then criss crossed my way up to 800wet, 1200wet, and finished on 2000Wet.

Just gotta buff it with rubbing compound then paint the edge matt black.
Finally Im going to fill the gaps round the edge with black permanently flexible silicon sealant.

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

surely that scratches the hell out it?

on plastic i'd start with 1200 then 1500 then 2000. all used wet.
I started with 240 on my passenger side to take out a very deep scratch.

Its messy at first but if you work up through the sand paper grades and change direction it all comes good. I went horizonatal and vertical 3 times on each grade. At 2000 I went 5 times each way.

Now it is as smooth as glass you can see your face in it. Just a shame i cant polish the inside too.

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

I have a main wiper arm with a wind deflector but the paint was pealing so I have striped it to metal treated and painted. Looks fantastic just gonna let it dry a lot before i fit.

Im also doing the same with my wing mirror mounts, drivers side is totally stripped and im priming it now. The mounts are quite rough so I filed out the flash lines to make them look better.

Finnished one mount. Next pictures of them on the car but it wont be too soon. Got passenger mount to paint then Ill let the paint dry properly for a long time.

Camera flash makes it look a bit grey but it is matt black.

what / how did you strip the base plate with?

Hi Stephen
I used 60Gritt sandpaper to take the paint off and a dremel type thing to do the nooks and crannies. The paint was really tough. The primer is anti-rust. I have no clue how long the paint will last. Before I fit Im going to wash the part with car shampoo then try wax on the back, if wax looks ok I will wax it too.

On the steel parts of the wiper arm I used Krust then anti-rust primer.

Ace (y) What did you go for? reverse or fog? Ive just put my wiper arm back toghether and waxed it to seal it. Almost finished the final coat on my driver side base plate.
