Hi!
I have a problem with the heating/AC system in my Fiat Bravo. It doesn't want to mantain the selected temperature. For example: If I select 20C it starts blowing hot air but when the temperature is reached it starts to blow cold air. So I have to constantly turn the fan on and off. I have the same problem in the summer with the AC, it doesnt want to mantain the selected temperature.
Does anybody know what could be the problem?

Thank you!

the temperature you select is the cabin temperature, not the temperature of the air coming from the vents, so once the cabin has heated up to 20C is must stop blowing hot air. if it continued to blow hot air the temp would rise above 20C. the whole point of climate control is that it maintains the temperature automatically. to do that it must change the temperature of the air at the vents. if you want it to contineu blowing hot air you just select a higher temperature than 20C, select the maximum hot setting to keep it blowing hot air constantly.

Sorry if I was not clear. I know how it should work, a friend has a Brava with the same system and he has not this problem. When the temperature in the cabin reaches the selected temperature it should stop blowing. The problem is that in my case it continues to blow cold air at full speed and if I don't rise the temperature or turn the fan off I start freezing.

I have a similar problem like yours and i didnt short it out yet. I suggest you first try to bleed the system for not having any air in the coolant sytem. If you dont see any diference maybe your suspect is the electronic temperature actuator. Try this tip: Try this without starting the engine and the blower motor. Put the temp to high. You will hear a noise like something working. After a few sec it will stop. Thats the actuator that has go to max. try to put the temp to 23 and listen again. In this point you will hear a continious clicking noise (not like the first one). The actutor slows starts to decrease. Leave it for a couple minutes there. Then put it to LO indication. You must hear a noise like the first one going quicly to lowest position. If you dont listen anything(then you probably gonna have same problem as mine) that shows that slowly the actuator has go to LO and it didnt stop to the temp you had choose. I suspect the electronic actuator but have a second opinion.

oh now i understand!

the fan speed controller is not adjusting the fan speed when in climate control mode, the fan is stuck on full speed. that means you need to replace the speed controller, also called the resistor pack or similar names.

i'm not 100% sure, but i believe it is different on models with air con. i have just looked at the diagrams and i cant decide which part it is because they use some odd names which dont tell you much.
