General Spare wheel

General Spare wheel

cant remember the last time an MOT tester even looked a spare wheel, but its definately before 2001.

as long as the tread is legal depth and the tyre is inflated you are ok. you dont need the spare to be the same size tyre (hence space savers fitted to bravo/as are legal)

Should be easy enough to find a space-saver and associated tools/ jack at a scrapyard. Not sure if a full size wheel would fit in there! Like Jug says, I can't recall mine ever having been looked at, because it would certainly fail, this is why I have breakdown cover and a spare set of alloys ;)

the new Honda Civic does not have a spare wheel in order to gain boot space and loose weight. instead it comes with a a bottle of sealent gloop and a pump. much better.
(unless you happen to have a blow out)

The Grande Punto Sporting 130 comes with a bottle of gunk and a pump too.

If it's for a Bravo then you will need a space saver as the wheel well is smaller than the Brava. (or so it seems)

You do not need a spare wheel for MOT or on the road, BUT if it has one it must be legal for MOT (however as has been said I dont know of any testers that check them).

I was told by an MOT tester many years ago. Fookin tw@t :)

No, it's not true, the spare wheel is not part of the MOT in anyway, regardless of whether it is there, made out of mashmellow or a cart wheel from the 17th century ;)
