I've not long got home from the bodyshop who were sorting my bumper out after it got cracked by a van last week. First of all, they decided the crack was too small to warrant a new bumper, so it's getting filled and painted instead (fair enough). I went back tonight and it's primed. The guy then tells me the paint won't be a perfect match (don't see why it can't be: I am tempted to leave the two cans of custom matched paint I have on the front seat tomorrow if they can't be arsed doing it themselves). If it hadn't been going to be resprayed next month anyway I would be quite upset. As it is, I'm not that bothered, but thing is they don't KNOW it's going to be resprayed so should make the effort

I would have said something but I was REALLY annoyed at the time as the car had been left unlocked in a dark, open car park with the keys inside (after closing time) - the guys excuse being there was CCTV so no-one would pinch it!

So after this and a bit of an incident on the way home with someone trying to overtake at 50 in 30 zone then slamming brakes on, I am not happy tonight :(

you shoulda gone back in the night to go "steal" your car  :p

give them a bit of a shock come morning, and teach them a lesson to boot (y)

helz even if you are gettin respray you should insist on colour match and reject work if your not happy, just to **** them off, presume van drivers payin.:)

yea then bill them for the paint!

they should fix your car to how it was before it was smacked, which means having a matching bumper!

It has to go back tomorrow to be finished, then I shall name and shame! So do I leave the matched paint for them? :D
 your taking it back?? ...dont do it! have you not got an alternative bodyshop you can take it to?
I removed my sei halfway through a job from an incompatant garage once..

I'll come over and collect your car for you if you want! Was impressed with your performance so wouldn't mind a go!

Cant see why they can't get it matched. My black tipo is a lot older than your brava and when I got the wing repaired it matched beautifully. They even removed one of my mountain biking stickers from the old wing and stuck it in place on the new wing! (y)

Well I went and got it back tonight. Went back before they shut so it wasn't left open and unattended. It's nt a bad match actually but in the sunlight it will be noticeable - my paint (and the paint I left with them that they didn't use) has little flecks in, the new paint is just a flat silver, even if it is the right shade. I feigned enthusiasm, problem is this all happened in a small town where you really can't afford to annoy people too much :( But people I trust know the story :D

Anyway, if you live round here, DO NOT take yor car to Alan Fell's of Wigton or on your head be it!

LOL you can have a look but having driven round in it for a couple of days, all you'll see is dirt :D The repaired bit is on the top of the front bumper, towards the right hand side (as you stand looking at it) - compare it with the left side or the bonnet and you'll see the difference.

EDIT - no you won't because I'm off for the weekend ;)
