hi all :)

planning on spraying my dash satin black...i know how to do the sanding and spraying

just wondering if i prime and spray satin black...will i get away without using laquer???

because i dont want it to shine i just want a dull black (i no i can just use matt black but i want it satin lol)

SO if i dont use laquer will it last or will the paint flake off or somethinG??

cheers
brin

I would just laq over it just to be safe really, and to save time rectifying it if it all goes wrong.it depends if your dash flexes or have any soft parts? if so then for sure use laq.

it just so happens i was going to do the same thing :p
I get alot of glare off my dash (Mk1) so when its sunny outside i cannot see very clearly out of windscreen.

I have tried sparying parts without laquer and found it can be solid paint (y)

Even a small amount of the laquer and it goes a little shiny. to get a truly dull (not shiny finish) do not rub the paint down after each coat (y)

Dont forget Pics :D

clean the dash with panelwipe, a quick rub with a grey scotchbright, then 2 fine coats of plastic primer, a quality one that bodyshops use before painting new bumpers, then enough satin black to cover, no laquer to shiny!, if you skimp on the primer it will flake off Ant!

Just a thought...Have you tried or thought of a matte laquer ?
