Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking to get 4 alloys stripped and powder coated in a different colour.

Had mine done for £220 at "thewheelspecialist" in B'ham. Full job done. Re-coloured in Anthracite. Same day service, drive in, drive out. I got a cheaper quote of £150 at a local place but they wanted just my bare wheels for 7 - 10 working days!

"thewheelspecialst" is franchised based and I have to say the product and service are A1. I have no link to them at all other than being a very satisfied Customer.

Cant say or speak for up your way sorry, but I imagine they will have someone up there, try googling it. (y)

Cheers Ffoxy, I'll see if there are any of them up here. I've tried googling it n got quite a few local companies but don't have any firm recommendations. Don't wanna spend that sort of money and end up[ with a finish I'm unhappy with. Thanks again. (y)

Nice one, they look really good. Turns out they've got a franchise in Glasgow so I'm gonna get a quote. Got a discount code at all? ;):D

They started at £340 on an internet quote, I ignored it and they e-mailed me and said how does £300 sound? I ignored that and they phoned me, we bartered, they agreed to £220 and I got an e-mail from them for proof.

No hassle on the day! (y)

I got the full monty, wheels off, tyres off, acid clean, media blasted, electrolyzed and powder dipped, baked and laquered, tyres re-fitted with new valves and all balanced up = 1 happy bunny lol!

If you get a good quote Pac-man let me know, my 'new' wheels are in need of tidying up (y)

Could turn it into a super-mini FIAT-Scotland meet ;)

Push them... times are hard... (y)

Aye will do, I'll put a post up with the final haggled price

What's that? You think I'll eventually make it to a meet? :ROFLMAO:
Hopefully we can, although there could be a meet outside my house and I'd still miss it. Im so damn lazy! :p

It's taken a while as all the quotes I received from companies in Glasgow were £200-300 and they weren't budging on price :(

However, I've found a place in Lanark called Covanhill Powder Coating, they charge £140 all in if you give them the alloys alone or £170 if you give them alloys+tyres.

For £170 you get:

  • Wheels and tyres removed from vehicle.
  • Tyres removed and wheels stripped of old balance weights and valves.
  • Wheels chemically dipped to remove original coating.
  • Steel wheels shot blasted to remove any imperfections
  • Pot hole damage or buckle removed, or cracks welded
  • Minor kerbing marks machined
  • Wheels primed powder coated to desired colour and lacquered
  • Baked in oven to harden overall coating.
  • Tyres blackened and refitted to wheels
  • New chrome sleeved valves available
  • Wheels balanced accordingly
  • Refurbished wheels refitted to car.
Takes 2 days, but for the price I'd be happy to wait.
I'm booking it in for the end of next month so I'll post some pics when it's finally done. :)

Oops, forgot about this ... already started doing mine by hand, cost so far:
c£8.50 for various grades of sandpaper and filler primer and about 4 hours to clean and sand 2 wheels.

Reckon I might need another can of primer, and then budgeting about £30-40 for paint and lacquer. £10 for new centre badges and probably about 24 Stella for abyss113's services to paint them for me :D

Bargain if you dont mind the wait but I seriously advise that you get to see their work before you commit to a deal.

I can vouch for the wheel specialist, they did a sterling job on my 15" superleggeras for £180 with tyres removed and re-fitted. That was after some 'negotiations' and complaining because one of the staff was an arrogant prick.
