Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum.

I have two scrapes on my car, which I did last June! I thought I might try and sort them out... (if I can).

Please see the pics and tell me what you think.

Most of the black scuff marks on the door could probably be removed with T-Cut. The scrape on wheelarch could be made much less obvious if you go to your local car paint supplier and get them to mix you a touch-up (comes with a small brush inside like a nail varnish bottle). You'll need the paint code (on tailgate on mk1, under bonnet on mk2).
I would avoid trying to use an aerosol as they cover a too bigger area and can make matters worse for the novice.

I don't understand where the paint code is located on an Mk2 model. I see that it is suppose to be under the bonnet, but I don't see it.

Where abouts is it located?
Anyone have a pic?

I dunno about the mk2 but on my mk2b to find you you:

Open the bonett,
Look just above the drivers side headlight and there is a metal panel (unpainted) with the chassi numbers, paint codes etc on it

There is a metal panel, I will have a look for the code this evening. And I'll report back.

i've found the paint code. I didn't think of looking under the bonnet. silly me.

Thanks for your replies.

greasemonkey - I have some T-Cut stratch remover, so I will try that on the scuff mark.

When I had the accident, I looked at it and I could actually pull the mark off. Trouble is, is that I don't know if its the lacquer which I was pulling off!!!!

it all looks too much for t-cut. if it was mine i would have it prepped and painted. especially the arch because theres bare metal showing by the looks of things

I don't want to spend any more money on this car. I have had bad luck with them in the last 2 years.

First car was a Nissan Micra, that was ok until I drove at 40 miles per hour and landed in a puddle, a 1ft deep puddle. Had to be towed out. Car wouldn't start. Started towing and the tow bar broke on my dads corsa, (he wasn't too pleased!!). Waited for the breakdown to come after about 2-3 hours. Got it home. Went to work the next day with no car. My dad kept on trying to get it started but couldn't, so he took the spark plugs out and put them in the oven for a bit. Refitted them and it nearly started up. Called someone out and he got it started. It was ok for a few weeks until I went for a drive during dinner and I heard a LOUD noise and there was oil every where on the road, got towed to a garage I normally go to and there was a big hole in the engine.

Bought my current car.....the Punto for £1959, had that for a month and the head gasket went. Spent £500 on that, then the coolant went odd (don't ask), that corrected itself. Now I have a leaky engine.

Sorry I had to let my rage out lol!

is that metalic paint? if it is it will be a b1tch to match and to look right it will need to be blended in...

however if your just after tidying it up get the paint to match (try a test spot first and allow to dry to make sure the paint is a good match).

ideally you want an airbrush/small sprayer
i have in the past used an humbrol airbrush and it worked ok..

you will also need some very fine wet and dry paper 2000 -3000 grit

and a rubbing compound and a cutting compond and a good drying day..

have a read of this

the thinner the coats of paint the better even if it takes 2 days to build up it will look a lot better than a rushed job..

Thanks for the reply Andy. I'm going to get a quote from somewhere (when I can). If it doesn't cost much, then I'll get it professionally done. And I'll get the dent out too:)

Then If I manage to get it sorted, I'll be happy :D
