Oh dear

Plugged my iphone into the PC this evening and it said there was an update to the OS - 4.0.1. Fair enough I'll give that a go.

Big mistake. I'd just managed to get IOS 4 working with B&M (after updating the B&M to 5.5) and now I am back to 2 seconds of music and then back to the radio.

My advice - leave your iphone on IOS 4.0 if you've no issues - just in case.

If anyone sees a fix for this or thinks there is an easy solution please post. I hate not having my iphone in the car.

Thanks

Matt

Hi mattD

I updated my 500c with 5.5 thinking it would correct the 'play for 2 sec. Then back to radio' bug but it didn't .
I'm using an iphone 4 and as per your advice, I didn't install 4.0.1 and stayed with 4.0.
Still no luck.

I'll give it a go with my old iPhone and ios 4.0

Hi guys....

Same problem here, though my iPhone 4 was working before the 4.0.1 update.

Now it's doing the "few seconds of music then back to the other source" thing that you've been getting!!

:(

How long do you think it'll be before they (or perhaps Apple??) address the issue?

Hi JF, Matt

Although it is always a pain having to disconnect the battery for 30+ min to reset B&M, I did it once again.

And it works !!! iPhone4 with iOs 4.0.1 and B&M 5.5, everything works as expected.

I read somewhere in this forum that removing the battery resets Blue&Me memory also.
I asked a electronic expert at my Fiat Dealer and here is what he said :
'Memory in Blue and Me is limited. Each device connected creates a catalogue taking up memory. You add EcoDrive Data, Updates not cleaning entirely the decompressed files after an update and you end up with memory (nearly) full with no space for new devices/catalogue/live memory for apps. This can cause the crash and return to radio problem'.

So this worked for me. Let me know if it did for you.

Just to say... IT WORKS

Previously after the iOS4 update it would play for 2 seconds, then it didn't work at all.

After disconnecting the battery for an hour, it works again. I only listened to one track, so I'll have to see how it goes.

I am running a 3GS with iOS4.0.1, and blue and me 5.4

Thanks 101! (y)

I too have the iPhone 3GS updated to iOS 4.0.1. I disconnected the battery for 45 minutes but had no joy. If the iPhone is still paired when the battery is reconnected does this mean that the Blue&Me memory didn't clear? Any help appreciated,

Dave

My iphone 3GS did the same as above when i updated it, finally got it fixed this way:

Hard reset my phone (Hold the home and power button down, still hold it down past the slide to power off screen and keep holding it down when the apple sign appears. release when it's gone.

Turned the phone back on and connected to the car as normal. Now i tried it by plugging it in the car with the power off but had no result, but with the power on it loaded up the media library :slayer:

I did a hard reset (battery off for about an hour) and it worked for about 5 mins and has since reverted to doing what it did before...2 seconds and then back to radio.

Thanks 101 - it seems all it needed was a little more time. Disconnected the battery for a good hour or so and on reconnecting the whole thing works again!

I'm happy.

My faith in fiat is restored (I always blamed Apple, anyway:D)

I have just downloaded all eco:drive data from the car and have now unplugged the battery.

Leaving work in 4 hours so will just leave it off until then. Fingers crossed...

folks just to add some more weight here. I was having the same 2 second cut off with IOS 4 on the 3GS then really choppy playback with the iphone 4.

Disconnected the battery for 90mins - working great now. Joy!!(y)

thanks to those who first suggested this fix!

Well I disconnected it for a fair few hours and cleared the eco:drive memory and did a hard reset of my iPhone before plugging in.

It worked but after about 3-4 mins the iPhone reboots, disconnect the phone and then plug it back in, works for another 3-4 mins and then reboots...

No idea what to do...

I think I've been quite lucky with mine. I have an iPhone 4 runnning 4.0.1 and thank fully, it works fine.

Though saying that, I have a brand new 500 Lounge, that also has the Aux port next to the USB socket - maybe it's just down to the hardware?

I was having the familiar problem of my iPhone playing for a few seconds and then taking me back to the radio. I'm pretty sure this is a B&M bug and unrelated to particular iOS versions. Sometimes I'd hit the voice control button and there was my music, playing the background when the lady spoke - not much use but it suggests there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the iPhone connection.

A few days ago I did an update to B&M 5.5 and at the same time I wiped all of the user data from the car (via the in-car menu, not a battery disconnection). Since then everything's been working fine so fingers crossed it'll stay that way.

Resetting all user data in this way might a worth a try before before resorting to disconnecting the battery, for those who aren't comfortable doing that. It just means you have to pair your phone again but that's easy enough with B&M.

Well...I think I may have fixed it. Here is what I did...

(Yet another) Battery disconnect for 1hr+

Restored iPhone4 (with iOS 4.0.2) to factory settings, then loaded it back up with the most recent back-up.

Hard-reset before plugging back into car

Played fine for 4mins then phone rebooted (the old problem for me!)

But after this it worked all the way home!! So the real test will be to see if it will work when I next try it but it certainly worked last night. Fingers crossed!!

Edit: Tried it again tonight and having them same problem. iPhone reboots every 3/4 mins. Infuriating.
