it only recognises wpl (windows playlists) or m3u based formats.
I create mine using a free programs after synching the memory stick with WMP. I then go in and create playlist storing them on the root of the stick.
I sync up my iPod, then open all the files (view hidden files/folders) in Windows Media Player and make the playlist from there and save it to my iPod again. Only problem is if u add more songs and sync it up, you have to create a new wpl because all the file names change.
You might not want to do this but i have deleted all of the genre info for my entire itunes libary and then created my playlists by naming the genre as "random" etc. if you get me, not ideal for everyone but its a real easy way without having to create wpl playlists!
I have made a new album on my ipod called Mix (and then Mix1, Mix2) and put my songs for playlist in there. It means having some songs twice on my ipod but it does work
