Well this is one time consuming mod. Yes it is stuck on but not with glue. There is a metal insert with a spine down the side which makes it almost impossible to remove. However not all is lost it can be done you will neeed the following
Junior hacksaw
stanley knife
and about 3hrs
The way to do it is to remove the outer rubber coating underneath that is a plastic golf ball type shape thats where the hacksaw comes into play. when you have cursed and cut yourself a few times your goal will be achived and the damed thing is off.
hope this helps
I was just wondering, what new gear knob can you use for a Punto MK1? Im interested in the MOMO, but having removed my original knob, its not a "screw" on.
Does anyone know of any gearknobs that will fit on the Punto MK1?
i found with my mk1 that with a hard pull upwards it came straight off i did try twisting because wasnt sure if it was a twister or not, but was easy for me.
Well I had to saw my Mk1 gearknob off because there is a ball inside the plastic which stops it being pulled off.
And then while I was it it and had the hacksaw in the car, I took a good few inches off the length of the shifter...makes changing gears so much easier when its shorter!
my friend has just done with job for me , it took 15 minutes ,, a stanley knife and a set of bolt cutters ,,, lol job done and new gear knob looks awesome better than the plastic thing that was on it and now gear stick is a good 2 inches shorter
