Hello everyone,
My name is Berni, I have just purchased a Barchetta from the UK.
Thought I had better join the forum an introduce myself.
Have been looking around the forum and found some intresting articles.
I have been trying to find a downloadable workshop manual, found one but the link didn't work.
The first job I need to do is replace the clutch thrust bearing, Is there a post explaining how to.
Regards.
Bernie

Hi Bernie !
Where are you from ? I'm near Paris, in the 78.
Hope you'll love your B' =)

Hello Natou12 and skallywag630,

This is the first time I have used a forum, and my computer skills are not up to much, appologies if I make any mistakes.

We live in the 63 Puy du Dome, about 35kms north of Clermont Ferrand.
Bought the car last Monday from Piston Heads, I think it's still on there but marked as sold (it’s the blue one), Got it a bit cheaper than the advertised price.
The car is in the barn at the moment as I have started to do the jobs, but as soon as the sun comes out I will take some photos. The rear screen came unzipped in one corner so am about to try and re-zip it, got to find the right sized zipper first. I think the only major job is the clutch thrust bearing. Don't know how difficult the job is, been trying to see if anyone had posted any instructions. Been trying to torrent download the workshop manual, so far no luck. Probably due the slow internet speed (40KB)
Any info on things that should be checked would be appreciated.
Bernie.

Cool, on a exactement la meme voiture :D

I didn't have any problem with my clutch, so can't really help...

Got the manual, took 18 hours to download!!
Now have all the information to replace the thrust bearing.

Had the same problem with broken link. Found several download sites, the first one I tried all the headers were corrupt or missing. Found one that worked on torrentreactor.net. Used Tixati v1.86 program to do the download. If you have a slow connection be prepared for a long download, mine took 18 hours.

Hiya! and welcome to the wonderful world of Barchetta ownership.(y)

Lots of info and help to be had here on the forum, if your into modifying your B just ask or look into my KC3 Project Silver thread.

best regards. KC

Hi KC,
Been looking at some of your mods, most impressive. Like your exhausts, were they custom made? My first job is the clutch thrust bearing, then converting the headlights, is there any info for converting them.
Regards.
Bernie.

Hiya! there is a search bar in the green section of tools.
Most subjects have been covered and you will certainly find an answer to any questions you require.

But here is some info I found from a post from another member called Richkeoghuk

Hi ,
I found this on another site. Hope it helps. :

I have taken the old light apart this afternoon and found that
> there is a metal deflector which is reversible. It is marked TD on
> one side and TG on the other. It has a part number 88203735 stamped
> on it.
>
> Remove the headlight from the car which involves removing the
> front bumper to access the retaning bolt underneath.
Unclip the black housing from the headlight. Put the
> clear lens once removed from the black housing on a soft cloth to
> avoid scratching it.
>
> Remove the bulbs to avoid damaging them, Pull the metal assembly
> off of its mounting pins, Remove the two screws and one large clip
> remove the four little clips which hold the deflector in place,
> remove the deflector turn it around and put it back in place.
> Reassemble the headlight assembly re install in the car refit front
> bumper. The headlights will need alligning.

I seem to remember that some older cars have the deflector plate rivetted on so they would need to be drilled out and reattached.

regards

Rich

Thank's for the info. What do you suggest to clean the engine. The ali engine parts have a light coating, like dust.

I use an APC from Meguiars its an All purpose cleaner that you can spray and use a soft brush to dwell the cleaner in. also for heavily solied engines Meguires Super degreaser. I have a light spray machine that can mist product by air which helps without soaking the engine and also a steam machine is great for cleaning in the bay but if your not able to have such equipment , then a simple spray bottle for product (APC- or Engine Cleaner/degreaser ), a small plastic brush and then a light spray from a distance with a pressure washer or hose .

Then just make sure you can blow any excess water from any electrical connections in and around the bay.

For all the plastics I coat with 303 Aerospace.

Hope this helps..
