Hello to you all,

I would like to introduce myself on this forum.
My name is Charles and I live with my wife in Hoorn the Netherlands.
We own a yellow barchetta from 1997. We are members of the dutch barchetta club and like the tours they organize.

Next month we are coming to the UK with our barchetta and explore the south of England.

Greetings from Holland,

Charles

Hail and well met. That don't look like Holland in the background?

Next year Ireland, the flying banana and the glorious west coast?

Thanks for all the compliments. And yes, the picture is taken in the Netherlands. In the background you see the Radboud Castle of Medemblik.

And maybe some day the coasts of Ireland. But first. This trip. :)\

Charles (who knows how bright yellow can be)

Looks very nice.

Where in the South are you travelling?

We just go where the nose of our barchetta tells us to go. :)
The plan is to stop there where it looks nice to stay for a day or even more.
Besides that, we going to avoid the main roads and try to stay on the country road only.

For us it’s a big adventure with only luggage in the trunk and no accommodation booked in advance.
People told us that this would be no problem in the UK with all the bed and breakfasts, Inns etc.

But.. we can always use some valuable hints and tips for this vacation.

Charles (who is not planning to sleep in the barchetta)

Hello and welcome Charles.

As others have said, nice looking car you have there. :)

My wife and I are planning to do the reverse of your trip - next month we are heading to Europe for 2 weeks and will go where the fancy takes us. We plan to go as far as Italy - I would like to drive a Swiss Mountain pass with the top down, humming Matt Munro as I go..

I hope you enjoy your trip to England - don't forget about our famously variable summer weather . Bring an umbrella!

Cheers,

Plug

been there, done that, broke chair.

Always try to keep your chair straight :)

So for you it's the same big challenge. Maybe the Stelviopas is an option?
And if you go into Italy, maybe the international barchetta meeting something to think about.

there are some nice hills to explore in wales

Well, Wales is to far north for this trip. But. you never know.

Plans

Country side - Whiltshire is superb for hood down driving, classic roads, nice sights to see.

Whiltshire... check (y) Took a sneek preview on Google Earth streetview
Thanks for that one.
