Technical Engine Swap

Technical Engine Swap

I have seen HGT's go for £350. But remember it's just plug and play with the HGT, where as the twinny will require a wiring loom and ecu.

For it to be cost effective which I assume you want, the HGT is the best choice.

We all have a great Idea to fit a bigger engine or forced induction at some point! ;)

I'd be quite content if I can get a second generation HGT engine. Thanks for all the help buddy, it's very much appreciated. I can look after my car, but engine swapping is a little over my head!

if one wanted to swap an engine out of a 97 barchetta and into a 95 barchetta, what would one have to look for? the ECU is in different place and the throttle body is different i think..

Does it not depend on how much you are swapping over?

If you put a 2001 engine in a 1997 car, if you use all the 1997 ancillaries such as starter, alternator, intake and exhaust manifolds etc. do you not remove a lot of the obstacles?

I'd doubt you would have to change the ecu and loom if you did this.

Another thing. The 2.0 156 engine has twin balancer shafts and another belt hidden in behind the cam belt cover, I haven't looked to see if there's space but you'd need an extra inch or so clearance in the Barchetta bay for it to go in.

If i am not mistaken the ECU in a 97 is behind the engine where as in a 95 its in the passenger footwell... hence my uncertainty...
