Technical Chip tunning

Technical Chip tunning

Chip tuning is ok, but I'd prefer getting the ECU remapped with a bespoke map and have the car on a rolling road. There are loads on companies in the U.K. but not sure about Cyprus.

I think a standalone ECU is going to be the only real way to go on the Barchetta. :(

I.ve had some guys mention of a DTA unit over here, not sure of exspense but will see when the time comes.

Was just curious about the chip.

Ive been looking at some of the other fiats tunning like the punto hgt and the stilo. did you know that there is a factory abarth 1747cc pushing 187bhp non turbo, just cams, pistons and remap.

yes, of course , you would need a few more mods. A different induction and exhaust system for one but the mechanics of the engine are not so different.
Some tweeked head work with race cams and a ECU map could defo take the Bhp upto 170-180.

With additional bottom end work and a turbo the B can go 200+bhp. Obviously you would need to do the various other mods to help you handle the extra power and stop you.

I heard of BTRET in the fiat barchetta club france is pushing 170ish bhp in his B with the addition of Cams and a good remap.

If you tuned the 1.8 to race specification you could make over 180hp But that would make the car essentially undriveable on the road with all the usable power in the upper reaches of the rev counter.

Standalone ECU, semi race cams, turbo, injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, flowed head, compression changed, exhaust upgrade will get you over the 200 BHP at the wheels I would think. (y)

Might need pistons and a few other internal upgrades to be an everyday runner.

I've always viewed a turbo as 'cheating'. The real art is extracting high power from a normally aspirated engine. Installing a turbo will completely change the characteristics of the engine, I personally don't want that from my engine.

I always felt naturally aspirated was the way to go, Running a 2.1 RS2000 with 48DCOE's was lots of fun back in the day, lots of ROAR and TOURQE :D but a good turbo can really catapult you along the way and equally be as much fun and a good rush. :D

Hello Ladies and Gents,

I'm thinking of getting a Barchetta again but had an ECU related question. I seem to remember that some of the Barchettas have got an ECU which can't be remapped (Hitachi?). Is it possible to tell by year of manufacture which ECU a car will have or is it a complete mix?

I didn't want to start a new thread so I hope here is an appropriate place!
