Styling Leather seats

i don't understand that foreign language... that price is for whole seat? or only for leather cover?

I have seen these for sale on Ebay before and almost bought them. They are covers though and I would want to see them on a car before buying to see the fit. I would like actual Barchetta leather seats or even better have mine upholstered - all a bit expensive though.

Found some leather seat covers for the b at a good price from these guys in Germany:

Anyone have any experience of them?

Also, I've been thinking of getting leather for a while but am a bit worried about how hot and sweaty it gets in the summer with the roof down.... Is it ok?

Leather seats in cars are great, easy to keep clean and being a natural material they don't get sweaty. The big problem with leather seats in a convertible is that it hurts if you get in wearing shorts after the car has been left in the sun with the roof down. For this reason I prefer the cloth seats in my B and leather in the tin top. Those clever devils at BMW have made a special coating for the leather seats they put in convertibles that reflects the sun's heat.

I have a Black B with black leather seats and I live in Spain. Not necessarily a choice I would make now but I was still in the UK when I bought her...

In my experience of having to park in full sun on days in the high 30s cos the full shade spots are the first to go, if you can get past the door handles and the roof handles, both of which can give a surprisingly nasty burn, then you are doing well. The seats do get pretty hot right at the front edge and I wouldn't recommend bare skin against them. The worst part though is the layer of sweat that developes between all of your body and the seat after about 3 miles.

It does go away once you drive fast enough to get some air movement in the car (that's my excuse and I am sticking to it) however, my tips would be:

Park in the shade
Park where the shade will come in the afternoon
Have a bit of a chat with your mate between taking the roof down and getting in.
Keep something in the car to put between your bare skin and the seat
Drive straight to the nearest shower or swimming pool or sea.
Keep a can of something smelly to liberally apply to yourself on arrival at your destination if you can't manage any of the above.

To be honest, the burns are more scary than the seats and I don't think its too big an issue. With the roof down, the car cools down much faster than with a normal non AC car (even here, where the air just is not cool at all). I would say go for it...

I have leather in mine and given the utterly shhhhiiiiittttteeeee couple of summers we have had 'burning my botty' on hot leather has not been an issue! What has been a big bonus (given that my b is my daily drive) is the number of times I have been able to wipe bird poo off the seats or have been caught in a short sharp shower and been able to wipe the rain off without it marking the material.

I did buy a set of the FIAT cotton seat covers but have never used them (no need, not seen the sun for ages!)......

That's expensive for covers. I would save up a little more money and get them retrimmed.

I have leather but next year I plan to have them retrimmed with leather and alcanteria centres, also having heated elements installed..

Leather looks good but a pain when very hot or very cold. Also makes your suits shiny!

My last car had black leather seats... I wasn't a fan of them as it was an old 1992 car and the leather had gone all hard and looked like cr*p. and here it didn't matter if the roof was up or down... in shorts it burned the hell out of you !! and I found that by the time I reached my destination by back was soaking wet..

Thank god my Bee has nice cloth seats... Ok they are still black and get pretty darn hot in the summer... but still better than leather

sweat, blood and tears........but worth it in the end:D

took me about 4 hours per seat, very tricky but a good alternative.

can post more info if needed but got no time at the mo....(y)

we have a place near us that will do 2 for 300 any colour,
and i have never found leather a problem in the summer maybe its because i am female:)

Could that be because the summers in "sunny wales" are not quite as hot as the summers in "sunny bahrain"??

 You are most welcome to come visit next august and I will arange a pair of nice black leather seats for you to try out with your nice new pair of female shorts....

Bet you a fiver that it burns your bum....:D

I finally have the seat covers fitted(y)

Not an easy job and my fingers have the scars to prove it, but well worth the effort. These are not covers that go over the seats but replace the existing fabric (or leather) outer coverings of the seats. The quality of the covers is excellent and they match the originals for all the fixing points. I would thoroughly recommend them.

Some pictures but they seem to look better in real life...
