Hi all.

Recently purchased a o2sensor performance chip for my barchetta. Its ment to to give an additional 15-25 hp and more acceleleration.

has anyone tried these before?, Not fitted it yet. Regards, Kiry.

V=IR

voltage = current x resistance.

i.e. it does something with the voltage.

Do you really think you can get 25bhp extra from a 1.8 16v for only £20?

What he says ^^^

people like SUPERCHIPS and REVO and JABBA charge £500 and get only 6-8 BHP on a N/A engine

£20 for 25 BHP.....maybe in coocoo land

your motor will go bang very soon mate :-S

People buy them all the time without knowing what they do, they will eventually damage the engine, as said it's basically resistors that allow more fuel to flow but this happens continuously whether running on the motorway or running on idle.

Don't take it personally ;)

If you do want it chipped I can recomend Angel Tuning who did mine. I think they get a little more than SUPERCHIPS do. I also looked at a Swiss place which seeme pretty good too. All three of them are a re-map though, which mean you get the power, without damaging the engine.

Worth pointing out that you'll need to us at least 98 petrol if yo do have it done.

Matt, I have heard of Angel Tuning and they seem to have a good reputation but will remapping have any long term effect on the engine?:confused:

Longer than short term, which is shorter than long term - so anything inbetween :D

On the Angel Tuning they say it will reduce the life of the engine by 2%.

Don't see the B listed on their 'can do' cars. However they do the HGT Punto so I guess it will be the same for the B.

Angel do it, but they didn't at first. I had it done more or less a year ago. It is a re-map and they only started doing the Barchetta a year or so ago because of the Hitachi chip. Nigel at Angel owned a Barchetta for a while.

I had a CDA added at the same time and together I noticed an enormous difference.

In terms of engine life, I imagine that if you use the extra power you are putting more strain on the engine parts, so less life. On the other hand I don't drive it flat out ALL the time so I think over all it's negligible. All I can say for certain is that in a year of driving I've had no parts failures.

In terms of the difference between SUPERCHIPS and Angel, I thought SUPERCHIPS was an ECU replacement, whereas Angel is a re-map, but I could be wrong. I think Angel may squeeze an extra couple of HP out of it, but I haven't had mine on a dyno so I don't know for sure.

In real terms, what I noticed the most was the increase in torque lower down the range. How much came from the CDA, and how much from the chip I don't know. I’ve also added a KAT back exhaust too, but I only felt a small difference for that. With the combination of the CDA and the exhaust it sounds very nice!

I’d get in touch with Angel and Superchips by e-mail and see what you think. When I had mine done Angel could only do it in Scotland and Northern Ireland, but that may have changed.

I went to chippeduk and got a live map done 2 years ago, he knows his stuff and i'd recommend him. As for engine wear so long as you service the engine regulary you 'should'nt' have any problems, same as any car.
