Five or six speed box?

I am not sure - I never got round to looking that closely. I was going to fettle the engine as a summer project with my son, but time and finances mean my buggy has to stay 1.1 until I can afford the 1.4 turbo

Is the end piece on the gear box pressed metal or aluminum casting, the bit that rubs on the tyre>

I will have a look over the weekend - I have moved the engine to my brothers house as I do not have the space

all the six speeds I've seen have had pressed steel end pieces

the six speed are more marketable

I spoke to the guy that had this on ebay - he said that the alternator need replacing but other than that its all good (if he wasn't a liar of course). From pics on ebay looks to be a 5 speed - i know its from a mk1 and i think they were all 5 speed were they not...?
