I think there is one in Wolverhampton.
I honestly have noticed the noise every time I've heard an abarth, both 500's and punto's. Mine does it.

My 09 AGPSS was tappety until I changed the spark plugs and found cylinder 1 plug only wound halfway in (thanks Dealer) so fitted new ones, did all 4 up properly and she's silky smooth now :)

Ahh, something else for me to check then. My mistake I'm sorry, I've always thought it was normal. (More of a sowing machine noise than tappety)

I wouldn't say mine is "tappety" the main thing is have you checked your oil levels ? If they are okay have a look at the service history and see if the tappets have been adjusted before as they are supposed to be done in the 72k/5 year service !

Tappets are hydraulic I think, nothing to adjust?

Really ? I don't have a service book or handbook for mine so I don't know but my standard grande has that in the 72k service and they are the same engine just with a turbo on it ?

I researched this point a couple of months ago when wondering what was causing the tapping/ticking noise on my car (before I discovered the loose spark plug) and the general consensus seemed to be that the t-jet engine uses hydraulic tappets. Maybe it varies between turbo'd and nat-asp versions of 'that' engine?!
