Hi guys,

I can't find anything definitive on the search so thought i'd post a new thread.

I need to change the oil on the Abarth GP-SS and i know that Fiat recommend the Selenia Abarth 10w50 which is almost impossible to find (i need it before the weekend too!).

I've been told by a garage to look at Valvoline vr1 racing 10w50 and another to look at 10w60 - i'm not really confident in either unless someone can give me a definitive answer.

My question is in a few parts;

1) Do i NEED Selenia Abarth 10w50
2) If so, where the hell sells it??
3) If not, what would you recommend?

Thanks

Thanks for the info. That link is another 10w50 i haven't seen yet.

The garage i spoke to did say that 5w40 is OK for T-Jets and M-Jets but said he wouldn't recommend anything other 10w50 for Abarth's; moreso because mines the supersport model.

I guess i just don't know enough about the differences between oils and don't want to end up with something inferior for my engine!

Well 10w50 is more heat resistant than 10w40 but your engine is t-jet. So "normal" t-jet remaped/tuned to more horsepower equals your engine, so KPE 5w40 is enough.
BUT due to ecology and catalitic converter more important is C3 and FIAT 9.55535-S2 oil specification

And also Castrol EDGE 5w40 meets those specification

I thought the SS was multiair :s

To the OP personally I would try and get 10w50 in a good brand such as shell helix ultra or castrol edge having selina doesn't really matter that much.

all those numbers mean is the viscosity of the oil at cold start (winter) and at running temperature, so something like 5w - 50 would also be fine.

Since it's an abarth however i'd try stick to original spec and look for something with FIAT 9.55535-S2 compliance like mike mentioned
Shell helix ultra has this approval :)

Multi air basically is t-jet with modified valve timing mechanism :D

And this unit use oil pressure to drive valve, so good oil is important for this. ;)
Furthermore, the turbo is not the same on MAir.

To answer the first question, you HAVE TO put 10w50 oil with ACEA C3 and FIAT 9.55535-S2 conformity.
You almost bought a race car with about 130HP/liter, lubricate it with the right oil :)

Yes the Selania Abarth is hard to find. But try to find the same specs.

Total QUARTZ RACING 10W-50 should be fine too (not my search):

No Abarth dealer near you ?
