Hi

I am considering buying a 500X, and I would like to know from owners of the car, if it is a car with few or many repairs.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences

I had a few gremlins during the warranty period, but I'm now on 56,000 miles and perfectly happy. Mine was one of the early examples with lots of new parts so problems were to be expected. I won't be buying another but not due to lack of reliability. Due to model changes the spec I require is no longer offered by Fiat, but I'm totally happy with the one I've got

Yes I would say it is a reliable car. Some things have failed but nothing that stopped the car from running or getting me from A to B or back home.

You may want to review this thread.

In general just minor things. Also note that many are related to earlier vehicles and also the tread is now quite old and quiet.

Agree with the above - mine was an early car, and after a couple of minor gremlins were sorted was totally reliable for the two years I owned it. I only changed it because my requirements changed.

Agreed - my wifes Cross Plus MJ is a 2015 car - I think we are on 46k now. Air-con needed a regas and a new headlight bulb is all we've needed outside of normal wear and tyre. She loves the car after having a Brava - Stlo - Sedici..........

Thanks for the replies - I have a Fiat Panda generation 3 now - and it has been a great car so far. So I think the next one will be a Fiat 500X.

It is, if you choose the right engine. If you get the 1.4L Multiair Turbo you’re stuck with a 6spd manual. If you get the 2.4L Tigershark Multiair you’re stuck with the 9spd auto, which has it’s issues. If you know how to drive stick, get the 1.4L. For 2019 it has one engine only, a 1.3 FireFly Turbo which only has the 9spd Automatic, AWD is optional in the 1.4 and 2.4. On the new 1.3L AWD is standard.

Thanks for the suggestion - I am looking at the Fiat 500X 1,6 E-Torq Popstar with manual stick shift.

I don't believe FIATS are unreliable, there is still a "Fix It Again Tony" attitude from people who have never owned an Italian car, they tend to think German cars are reliable, but they break down and they still go back for more!

In the last 20 years I've had Alfas, Abarths and FIATs, the only faults were a rear seatbelt used to stick, a boot switch replacement and an aerial base.

The 1.6 E-Torq is the oldest design and bullet proof and 500X is well built, if it suits you, go for it!

I have a 2016 500x lounge with 41k miles. I have problems with the AC twice, some parts replaced, recalls, door not closing properly, trunk light falling, thermostat replaced and lately rattling noise when hitting the gas pedal. Unfortunately I am out of warranty and I hope it is not a big problem.

Until my brake hose problem, my 2016 X Cross Plus has been pretty much trouble free apart from a dodgy DAB aerial. Signal cuts out a lot. I’ve bought a new one but haven’t got round to fitting it yet.

What was the door closing issue ?
failed latch..or a hinge issue ( strange thing to fail)..??
