So fist of all just posting this for general information and not as a concern or potential problem. So if you have experienced this then you are not alone.

On a few occasions I've hit the Start button and the engine has started and then stalled along with a Start/Stop Unavailable message.

Except for a couple of occasions then the second attempt has always worked.

Today I had to do three attempts to satisfy his Lordship's "OK thanks for waking me up, I give in, I'll go".

Now here on the South coast we had clear skys and full mood and associated temperature drop. Also today instead of the usual 7:00am start-up it was not until 10:30am that I asked motor action.

One thing I have learnt about this "event" is that the engines fires first time and dies within (say) 2 to 5 seconds. My drive is sloped so when I hit start and attempt to go and lift the clutch the parking brake is released the car rolls back but the stall then happens. This roll back can block the drive entry for our other vehicle. My mistake this time was to hit start but not wait the few seconds to ensure the start was complete and the engine happy to run on.

The only thing that is infuriating is that better 99.5% (once or twice in a year) the start cycles work 1st time so you get used to Push and Go. When the Push and Go cycle is interrupted by the engine stalling then you just wonder if this a hard fault and you have blocked the drive or just a "try it again" cycle :)
