General Fiat coffee make

General Fiat coffee make

again if you read my answer properly, is an optional aimed to the italian market or to people who apreciate what an espresso is
have a look at this and you may get the idea (ps only one i could find in english) that some people like the freedom of having a nice espresso in a car(y)http://youtu.be/kU2WpcVoKxE

It is but fiat version has lavazza pod "a modo mio" technology which makes a huge difference How So?the way that the capsule is built is optimized for a real espresso with crema style coffe and lavazza spends milions on research on how to do this like illy
Is £140 but add cups, sugar, coffee pods etc etc is not £140 anymore i believe £200 just gets you the coffee maker you still have to pay extra for the option in the car so that it can dock to power it also the cups and bits may cost extrayou beleive? for what i heard from italy, comes as a kit with everything ready to go
Espresso is a decent coffee (is not 30ml) unlike some watered down cup of coffee thst you can buy else where, no espresso is 30ml if you do some research you'll see that the actual cups (inside one of the larger cups along with consumables) are only little tiny clear plastic things quindi espresso 30ml:ROFLMAO: espresso is not 30ml and neither are the disposable cups, i dont have to do any research i know this

and is more than just a coffee is part of culture and italian lifestyle and that is were this particular option is aimed for
Is not a coffee maker is an espresso maker and lets not forget that fiat is from italy coffee is a big part of social culture in Italy sitting in your car quaffing a tiny cup of international brand generic coffee on your own isn't exactly 'italian culture' would be much better for your average long distance lorry driver here in the UK i did not know that 500 l only had one seat? tiny cup of international brand generic coffe? definately research needed here:eek:

Must come as a kit ready to go, you are right.

Lavazza Coffee Machine 6WX £200.

This is the car option on the UK options price list.

Obviously it includes the fitting in the car for the machine (assume it's a 12 v connector in the cup holder, maybe all cars have this so you can buy the machine later as an accessory), the machine and the two cups containing the espresso cups and lavazza pods.

Otherwise you'd be pretty pissed off to have only the coffee machine and no way of connecting it in your car having ordered the option with your car

The maker its self really is just a rebranded handpresso auto

lavazza-fiat-body.jpg

As for Lavazza spending millions and being anything special well the only difference is the lid to take the Lavazza pods committing you to only buying their pods. It also needs to have the dock in the centre console which is to ensure the maker only works when the car is stationary

According to the fiat press pack for the uk
"The Fiat 500L will become the first standard production car in the world to offer a proper espresso coffee machine fully integrated into the dashboard. In collaboration with Lavazza, Fiat has devised a unique deck that allows the coffee maker to be fitted into the passenger compartment. It then uses Lavazza's A Modo Mio capsules to make authentic Italian espresso coffee. Owners who plump for this option will also be able to choose a selection of accessories to complement it including spoon, capsule and sugar holders." Which implies that these are sold in addition to the espresso maker. The pricing compared to the handpresso auto also suggests the same.

A proper Italian espresso is 30ml no more than 45ml I have no idea what you think an espresso is if you think different perhaps you'd care to elaborate?
I should probably point out the capacity of the device is less than 60ml (~53ml) ;)
So you could squeeze two cups out of it if you do short measures, for those that happen to carry another person in the car.
If you want to make anything more than an espresso you'd need to carry another source of hot water or milk kinda makes the whole thing a bit pointless.

Lavazza do make good coffee but its still an international brand which uses various tricks to make their coffee taste the same no matter how its made, meaning its not just pure ground coffee beans there is an element of processing

It also needs to have the dock in the centre console which is to ensure the maker only works when the car is stationary this is just pure ignorance is not just the lid different, it incorporates the "a modo mio" capsule sistem (not just pods) for espresso and if you did some research you would find that you dont have to buy just lavazza, other companies do compatabile capsules with different flavours as lavazza only do 3 or 4

A proper Italian espresso is 30ml no more than 45ml I have no idea what you think an espresso is if you think different perhaps you'd care to elaborate? really? "espresso is 50 to 60 ml and there are 2 variation of it "corto" also called "stretto or ristretto" which is abot 30 ml "lungo" which is 90 ml "
I should probably point out the capacity of the device is less than 60ml (~53ml) ;) yes because the lavazza capsules are single use for one espresso
So you could squeeze two cups out of it if you do short measures, for those that happen to carry another person in the car. or you just fill it up again and put another capsule in and make another one:confused:
If you want to make anything more than an espresso you'd need to carry another source of hot water or milk kinda makes the whole thing a bit pointless. not really, as previously mentioned other companies supply capsules that makes tea, hot chocolate etc etc

Lavazza do make good coffee but its still an international brand which uses various tricks to make their coffee taste the same no matter how its made, meaning its not just pure ground coffee beans there is an element of processing
yes lavazza aim is to make a coffee in a different country taste the same of any coffee bar serving lavazza in italy whats wrong with that? just because someone grounds coffe beans at the moment (like costa, starbuck, mcdonalds etc etc) does not mean that the coffee is any good...there is people who do training in italy on how to use a coffee machine properly. you can have top quality coffee but if you dont know how to make it is not gonna taste good...offcourse if you had watched the video that i linked on previous answer you would have know this(y)

Can't wait to see the level of refreshment you get from a 53ml cup of tea or hot chocolate, one 6th the size of a normal cuppa:rolleyes: of course if you want to stick to espresso but don't want to pay lavazza prices their are other cheaper no brand compatible capsules you're quite right, the handpresso device has a number of compatible pods from a number of main brands including illy and lavazza (y)

The quote is from fiat them self not the press.

Lavazza them self state their espressos are 30ml, stretto 20ml lungo 40ml based on the a modo mio pods and just in general, 30ml is the size of a single espresso shot after all.

You wittering on about people learning to make coffee in Italy with proper machines falls down when we point out this isn't a 'proper' coffee machine.

Please do go do some reading on the subject, their is no point you even discussing this when you clearly have no idea, your just another forum troll arguing for the sake of arguing (y)

I could go on about the years my parents owned a coffee shop and that I know a thing or two about a proper cup of coffee and indeed how to make them, I could point out they still have an industrial coffee machine which they bought not long before they sold the shop (the new owners wanted a bigger machine) perhaps as you are indeed such an expert you'd like to buy it yours for a bargain £2,000

A bit of a snarky reply maybe but I do know a thing or two

You are completely missing the point and i rest my case with you
You are a tipical example of someone self opinionated that thinks to know it all and leave no room for more learning and always uses "you are a troll excuse" when has nothing more to add to the matter...
I could go on about all the time spent between school, restaurant, coffee shop and mechanic work that i did all my life(in italy) and still do(in uk), even know that i now have few health issues that are now leaving me more time to browse the internet...
The lavazza espresso measurement are wrong and i think have been changed for the uk market as any italian coffe shop would give you 50 to 60 ml and the fact that this machine holds 53 ml of water conferms just that, plus the home version of saeco lavazza "a modo mio" has no self stopping so you can make yourself corto, normale or lungo espresso:psend me a pm with the spec of the coffee machine and some pics and i have no problems on getting that sold to someone that i know which will buy it if is a good one:cool:
You still havent watched that video eh?

firstly there is nothing more to add to the matter? you rant and rave about the a modo mio pods and how fantastic this device is, at the end of the day it is a rebranded handpresso auto first and foremost which uses ESE pods which are essentially generic which dozens of manufactures making their own pods for this format. they are cheap available everywhere and have a huge range. in addition the device can be plugged into any car with a standard cigarette lighter socket, it even has an accessory which allows you to grind your own coffee and make your own pods for it!

the Fiat Lavazza version requires you to use only a modo mio pods which are more expensive and less abundant, they tend to be only Lavazza products unless you trawl the internet for generic versions and you can't make your own. the device has been adapted to only fit the Fiat 500L via a special docking station which is only powered when the car is not moving.

The Price of the Former is £200 with a carry case and cups and napkins
the Latter (Fiat version) which is adapted and rebranded assuming it does cost £200 all in still requires the car, as stated above by 500L has the £150 Lavazza 'comfort pack' fitted so thats £350 for an in car espresso maker.

without going on and on about what an italian coffee shop would or wouldn't do (not mentioning the fact that a standard espresso cup size is 35ml*) the Home model of the Lavazza coffee machine comes with this handy menu sheet which shows how to make various coffees using their a modo mio pods they are designed for a 30ml shot otherwise they have less flavour the home version has a button for a 30ml shot

they also do a modo mio pods for Lungo coffees I assume these require a larger shot and hence why the home machine also comes with a free flow button.

having a 53ml capacity is to give an element of flexibility to those who do like to customise their drink to their own tastes or if you like "a modo mio" as for the capacity confirming anything regarding the size of an espresso in Italy the home version has a 1litre tank, its a small unit that has to fit in a car it needs to carry enough water to be flexible but small enough for in car use, as you quite rightly point out further back it is a one cup deal which means making a new cup for every additional passenger who wants one, so need to carry more water with you in the car, and wait 2-3 minutes each time for the water to heat up

if you want to make anything bigger than an espresso for instance an americano you need to carry hot water with you or some other method of heating more water and a bigger cup. so why not just carry a thermos of coffee? (fiat make one of these for the 500L as well)

the Video? i've watched it (as in had it on in the background it is 45 mins and i have more important things to do) i am really not quite sure what point you are trying to make? the one key point is that this is illy coffee and not Lavazza? i'm sure you'll know these two brands make very different coffee and will have their own processes for creating their brand flavours.

Please use a spell checker or something I struggled to read that and am still not 100% sure I understood all of it example: - "even know that i know have few health issues that are now leaving me more time to browse the internet" this isn't the usual trying to be a smart arse (my spelling isn't exactly A* material) but i can't exactly comment on or reply if I have no idea what you are trying to say.

dave I think the problem with Starbucks is that its generally made for the american market and tends to be very bitter and flat in taste, you don't get that nice coffee aroma in a Starbucks, i always think it smells a bit like stale urine mixed with coffee. (I work in a hospital with a Starbucks and when actually mixed with the smell of stale urine it just enhances the aroma of the coffee)

*ok so i mentioned it

Like i said i rest my case with you
You know it all and you still have not watched that video
The only reason that the video is showing illy coffee is because is the only one i could find in english language that you could understand (unless you speak italian? You should do as you seem to have such an expertise on espressos!)
Regarding me using a spell checker well im sorry english is not my first language i put one k by mistake on the second know...
And thats it i rest my case i have better thing to do than reply to someone opinionated like you that knows it all with such a vaste expertise:D

I've no idea how many mls an espresso is but it's damn few - about a thimble-full - my guess would be three or four teaspoons - that's 15-20 mls I think.

In a blind coffee tasting last year - possibly year before - Lavazza came way down the ratings, and the tasters included some of the Lavazza family.

You are completely missing the point and i rest my case with you

Well what is your point? you can't throw a hissy fit at someone when they have no idea what you are getting at!

I can't find anything in this video that says anything about drinking espresso in your car, unless i've missed it in which case point out the time point in the video and i'll take a look

you have completely ignored my last post because you've been called on all your arguments.

with this machine you would have to make (ironically) 500 coffees or there abouts to claw back the £350 outlay for the machine and 25p a time for the pods as well as buying sugar packets to carry about, compared to buying a cheap £1 coffee from the back of any good piaggo ape

so all petty squabbles aside you have to really like coffee or more to the point espresso to warrant spending the money and I doubt the machine is designed to cope with that amount of use.

at the break even point you will have spent £19 per litre on coffee ;)

What would you know about Italy and Italian culture though? :p

turbo pib, you are a gimp and there is little/no more to say on the matter.
