It’s disgusting how they have been with me I paid a fortune for this car and I only got it October 2nd but at the end of the day what can I do!?! I’ll run it till it goes and then I’ll have to invest in another car!!

You do have some consumer rights, if they're a business.

You need the cylinder head gasket replaced, or your money back. I don't think sticking a gasket repair paste into the coolant is what might be termed "a satisfactory repair".

Tell them to fix it properly.

Well said.

We all need to rally round the OP and give her the help and support she needs to get some proper redress from the selling garage.

I'll start by posting a link to this article.

After 30 days, they're entitled to one attempt to put things right. If this repair then fails in the first six months from the date of purchase, then legally she is entitled to reject the car and get a refund of the purchase price, less a reasonable deduction for the use of the vehicle for the time she's had it.

That said, I somehow don't think they're going to roll over on this one.

Also, injectors are calibrated and coded, and the calibration codes need to be entered into the car's engine management computer. A small non-Fiat specialist might not have the tools to do this (or might simply not bother); either way, if not done, then at the very least, fuel economy is likely to suffer.

All the signs are that the selling garage are trying to bodge a repair to push the problem sufficiently far into the future to be able to walk away.

I fear we may all be too late, as it seems the diagnosis and repair was done before we heard about it on here.

If I've followed the thread correctly, the repairer is not the seller.
If this is correct, once another repairer has touched it, there will be no redress against the seller, as they will point out that they have not had the opportunity to fix it earlier, and now someone else has worked on it it is difficult to apportion blame for any subsequent faults.

If the current repairer has done the job, and used that sealant, never go there again.

The car is going back to the sellers tomorrow.... the climate control mix motor has gone now too [emoji20] I looked it up ..... a major hassle apparently since my warranty isn’t up till jan someone is looking down on me! Or not!! [emoji23]

If at any point in this process the selling garage gives you the opportunity to hand it back and walk away with a reasonable percentage of your money back, bite their hand off.

It doesn't matter how pretty it is, this car is seriously not worth the hassle.

Check the small print of the warranty carefully. Some may state that the warranty is invalidated if repairs are carried out other than through the selling dealer.

However, you also have the protection of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and these rights cannot be overridden by the terms of any warranty. If a serious fault develops in the first six months, and that fault was present at the time of original purchase, then you may still have a claim against the selling dealer. Crucially, in that six month period, there is an implied assumption that the fault was present at the time of purchase; the burden of proof to show otherwise rests with the seller, not you.

Your local CAB may be able to help.

If you paid any part of the purchase price on finance, or with a credit card, then the organisation providing the funds will also be jointly liable.

If you want to read another story about someone who was sold a 500 which turned out to be a lemon, have a read of this thread. Fortunately this one had a happy ending.

I’ll have to update you tomorrow I’m taking car back in the morning! The full gravity of the situation is sinking in and I feel ? sick!!! I paid £7500 just 2 months ago and the car is well like you said a really Lemmon!!! If I add up all the problems .... paint peeling on rear bumper after first wash ... tailgate wiring going on me .... aircon mix motor gone .... fuel injector.... now engine basically useless..... I just hope they will be realistic and honest with me because this just isn’t fair

I seriously hope that the selling dealer man up to what they have done and refund most of your money.

If they don't, then I think you may have to seriously consider getting legal advice.

Errr yeah!! I just hope they are reasonable! I really was not expecting something so bad going wrong & so soon!! Especially when I’m super careful & attentive with my car!! I just wish I was more experienced when looking at a car/engine!

Ugh I feel sick not looking forward to tomorrow at all!!

We'll all be there with you in spirit.

Stay calm, and be polite, but firm. Tell them they've sold you a car which isn't fit for purpose, and that you want to reject it and have your money back.

Let us know how the seller responds, and we can help you work out what you want to do next.

Ok yes I’ll be polite & thank you it means a lot you guys are here .... I’ll let you know how it goes......

Just found the car has not had a service for 2 years! The sellers of this car did NOT service the car before it was sold to me .... god only knows how it passes the MOT 16/9/19 I’m baffled

Fingers & legs crossed [emoji23] I suppose!! I have no idea what will come to press! I know I could get a “new” engine but how easy is it to find someone to fit it?? It’s a bit early to be thinking outside the box ..... just trying to cover all angles because I LOVE THAT CAR[emoji17]
