The land that time forgot
I got round to washing the Younger Mrs S' "relatively new to her" Rasputin, over the weekend... and sweeping out the millions of Birch seeds and Double Decker wrappers (them's me.. not her :D ) that had accumulated in the footwells.

I noticed what appears to be a USB port on the console next to the cup holders/ahead of the hand-brake.

Does anyone knoe what it's for?

AFAIK the beast (2013 1.2 Pop S/S) does not have Blue and Me (but how can I tell?)

The USB port looks "after market" in that it seems glued in to a hole that may or may not have once been a ciggie lighter, for example... so it could be that there was some previous-owner cobbelry to get their iPod etc. connected to the stereo. But if it doesn't do anything I'm inclined to remove it, since it looks a bit gash. Maybe it should have a cap on it?

I'll see if I can find a photo of a Pop to see what it should look like down there, but if someone has one handy, it would be interesting to see it. Unfortunately I forgot to take a pic' of the offending device inside Rasputin.

From some internety pictures where you can see the cup holder area, rather than just the dashboard, it looks like the hole might previously have been where the cigarette lighter goes, so probably right that someone's wired it up to be a power source.

I'll try to see if it works, if I can find a suitable cable.. the Younger Mrs S. always seems to be charging her phone, so it might not be a bad accessory for her to keep in there.. :D

I have a similar USB port in my 500 and doesn’t seem to do work either with a usb stick or charging anything

I take it you have checked all the fuses? Engine bay and glove box area? Was the problem with mine

I've just installed a usb charging socket so that we can still use the lighter socket, £4

Where did you get the USB doodah?

I suspect that the Younger Mrs S. will want a power source for her Sat Nav, so I'll have to return the cigarette lighter hole back to its original role.. but it makes sense to move/install the USB at the same time.

If her USB thing doesn't work (or even if it does) it might be good to have a new one with a lid. Her one (no cover or anything) looks a bit bodged.
