Re: ABS problem solved

Ok I finally found where the problem was, ASR was activated, I changed it to ABS and did a proxy alignment, ABS light is now off thankfully. Thanks for the help. If it was not for these forums it would have been another stealer job that would have cost a fortune . Thanks again.

Now test the ABS on a quiet road just to be sure?

When the ABS is working correctly you will not simply 'hear' it but there will be feedback of unmistakable pulsing in the brake peddle. The noise is generated by the ABS unit in the engine bay. However, to benefit from ABS braking, the foot peddle has to be firmly applied and the pressure sustained as if attempting to lock-up the road wheels.
"Gravel or dirt is best" ... because the ABS unit by comparing all four road wheel rotational speeds, determines when traction is lost and at which wheel. In the event of severe loss of traction, or very poor road surface, the unit acts to simulate cadence braking. That is, prevent wheel lock-up (by very rapid distribution of force) causing the weight of the vehicle to modulate between front and rear axles, further reduce skid risk and optimizing brake performance. Never-the-less, if the tire tread depth is low (<3mm) braking will be poor.
