After 45K miles and seven years of driving the original gearbox in our 1.2 Lounge needed replacing - the usual bearing / seal failure associated with these 'boxes.

My mechanic ordered one from 'The Punto Shop' in Oldham - who trades on Ebay as oldhamfiatgearboxes. I don't often give businesses a 'shout out' but Ian who runs the place was really helpful, the service was great, and the refurbished gearbox drives better than the original! So if you're unlucky enough to need a new 'box, give them a try!

Did he refurbish your old box.. or just give you an exchange unit (or even a non-exchange unit)?

He supplied a refurbished exchange unit, with the old one returned after it was removed. The shipping to and fro was all included in the £360 cost.
