So I thought I would fit white wall tyres to the wife's 500, it's a look she likes and I thought it would look good. I know you get white walls for the 500 as I am sure some models come with them but what I don't know is a good place to shop for them anyone else fitted them ??...

Have a search of the 'net.

IIRC you can get Michelin Energy (a decent tyre) in whitewall, but the price might scare you - north of £1000 for a set of 4.

Christ that's nearly half the price of the car, had no idea they were so expensive...

There's people who can put a stripe onto your existing tyre, e.g.;

I think these geezers essentially shave a groove into the sidewall and paint on a white rubberized stripe. You can get various thickness of stripe.

The advice is to buy new tyres, run them for 2000 miles (this ^^ site says 3000) to get the tyre rubber's oils out of the tyre and then apply the procedure, otherwise the oils "yellow" the stripe.

Another idea is to buy the white £costalotta genuine Fiat hub-caps from the Colour Therapy model, c/o your dealer. That looks pretty white.. :D and you can get a similar visual effect to whitewall tyres, albeit it's not the same.

There´s an option - attached to the hubcaps. That´s safe and affordable (below 100 GBP).

The white rings that are fixed between rim and sidewall can be dangerous, they can damage the sidewall because they will slowly wander. They are not officially approved (at least not in Germany).

Real WW tires are indeed expensive, and the few that you can get don´t fit the 500.

So I have abandoned the idea of white wall's. The real thing is way to expensive, the paint looks terrible and the tyre inserts I think may be more bother than they are worth. Thanks for the help anyway..
