Hello!

Well, I got a Fiat 500-2007 with 80200km at odometer, at a good price, and by now I am really happy with the car, but there is only one issue that is started to buggy me, so, I would like to ask if may be possible some help/advice that would be very gretafull

The issue is: the fuel level indicator bar show the level of fuel (I almost sure that at this point shows correct level...), after around 20-30 seconds sudden the segments of the level fuel bar in the dash goes all ON for around 2 seconds, and then goes to the middle bars segments for 2 seconds and then goes all segments OFF, and turn on the yellow fuel light warning light... the the all the same process repeat again and again while driving, in a loop process...

I read many posts looking for clues about what could be the trouble, and found some posts about if the car was parking on a hill (no the case...the car sleeps at night in flat totally horizontal floor and in day is not parked in hills)... and also other post about full fill the tank and left around 24 hours to settle the level indicator but this also not happen... the issue continues present, and I wonder if may be require a change the fuel-levelGauge buoy assembly spare at all (It seems that the pump and fuel buoy level sensor is a one unit assembly).

So, I would be very gratefull if may be some advice about this trouble, if may be requiring a software or car system "reset" that could solve the crazy level bar indicator loop, before I need to order a new pump-level sensor spare part for replace...

Thanks for kind attention and best regards

try pulling out the battery and resetting the system?

Hello ahmett!

First thanks for the tip, so, I did as suggested, but was unlucky, and after remove black (-) clamp connector for 30minutes, I then reconnect it and did a normal restart of the car and go around in a small test trip of 6km, but at the first km of the trip the issue returns and so on the loop of the level meters going to mas, then lowering to empty and flash of the yellow low fuel light was present all the trip....

So, I would be very gratefull, if somebody may remember if this type of issue was already known, or if may be some comments if somebody had troubles.

Also, By today I was able to read OBD system with a cheap bluetooth adapter and my cell phone, and It shows the code P0335 taht si due to the sensor A crankshaft position error... I was to look for check the sensor and eventually order a spare of the sensor, but by now, I wonder (but I dont feel that may be related...) if that faulty sensor may have relation with the fuel level loop issue...The car by now is run in good way, and no other OBD or car driving issues or troubles...

Any comments and help would be very gratefull.

Thanks and best regards to all!

It seems like the instrumentpanel is faulty,

For the DTC; check thge timing of the cambelt before replacing parts

You can use your ODB2 to check fuel level, that should tell you if it's the sensor or the dash display at fault.

If it doesnt seem to be working check out Bosch Car Service Costa Rica probably cheaper than the Fiat dealer!

Hi!

Thanks for the tip, I don't know that it was a Bosch sensor! :-D and as I may see, my local FIAT representative have really higher prices for spares (as seem in many countries :-D), lucky, here, have some other spares shops that have FIAT as main brand (but they seems that consider that the FIAT 500 is somewhat new model, but PANDA is very supported :-D)

So, I guess will look around for the spare in the weekend, since yesterday I removed the sensor with the help of a friend that is also very technical in mechanics, and inspected it and clean (but sure it was almost clean already... but hoping if there some what metallic dirt taht may be fouling the sensor signal...), but we was not able to test the cambelt as kindly suggest by FiatTecie, since we didnt have how to do cambelt properly, but my friend said that, it was least probably that the cambelt could be wrong, since the motor runs pretty nice and smooth and in his opinion with a cambelt issue, the motor may be shows a not so smooth run...

By now, the most annoying bug is still the fuel level boring loop, but I started to tolerate b y ignoring it by now, but for sure I would like if may have some experience if some other friend around here may be remember if could see the behavior previously in other car... It also doesnt seems that may be the dash level wrong but as kindly suggested by UFI, It could try to debug fuel level with bluetooth OBD dongle in weekend time, so, I hope may check if the level buoy sensor is funky "jumping" the signal value...

Thanks and best regards to all :-D

By other way t

It could be a bad connection in one of the writing looms, I had a similar problem with the temperature sensor on mine, turns out they caught a connection when they were doing some work on the car by accident.
