Hi,

I have a red 2012 Twinair, it's my first car but I've noticed when cleaning it is covered in paint chips from stones etc... There's lots! Is it a cheap paint job on these cars or is that just the way the cookie crumbles with all cars?

I've been told it's best not to fill the chips in as it stands out even more then? What do you guys think?

Regards,

Ade

Hi, there's a routine to follow with covering paint chips. There plenty of stone chips on my wife's red 500 but if applied properly with a pin instead of the stupid big brush that comes with the Fiat touch up paint and applied in layers and polished flat at the end of it it's looks good. Head on over to detailing world .co.uk and there's plenty advise waiting for you there :)

The solid red used on both Fiats and Alfas is notorious for chipping and this issue is commonly reported here. I've got one, and mine is the same (n) .

That said, the base metal protection seems good, so generally the chipped areas don't rust.

As has been mentioned, careful filling, sanding, laquering & polishing will get you a near-invisible repair - you just need a lot of patience.
