Well the 50,000th mile has just clicked up on my odometer, mind you I had to drive twice round a car park to make it happen and be able to safely stop for a photo!

Fivey is a 2008 1.4 Sport, I got him on 1st March, 2008, my only brand new car in 37 years of driving.
Most likely one of the pads is sticking in the reaction frames - which as Mila says, will likely warp the disc.
Full strip of the front brakes, clean & lubricate frames, new pads & discs & it'll likely be good as new

Is it the starjet engine? What sort of mig do you get round town and on the motorway?
It's the 16v engine, around town it gets about 35mpg on a motorway at a steady 70mph it'll do about 45mpg.

I wouldn't say that, most of it seems fairly robust, well apart from the door handle, boot wiring and rattly suspension.

interior plastics also feel rather cheap in my opinion. Mind you ive done 70000 miles = )
Mine has done 70k miles also, aside from the door plastics being scuffed, it looks quite good.

How's the leather doing ? Mine looks a bit off but that's probably the same for every car.
Mine were scuffed after only a month or two from brand new. I think I've got a bad habit of accidentally scraping the plastic with my foot when I get in/out of the car
