Hello :)

I am new to Fiat and this would be my first 500C So many people have been raving about them that I wanted to see what all the fuss was about

Yes, I admit, I was one of the few that fell in love with the Gucci one ;)
in black and I went to see a Twin Air one at the weekend.

Good fun, it was an automatic and the demo having done 1k and gears just seemed to have a little bit of a delay between changes if that makes sense. It was up for £18k

I could get a same spec non Gucci one for around £4k less so although I love the seatbelts so much on the Gucci one - im not sure they can be worth the justification lol!

So question is - do you get used the automatic gearbox delay quite quickly - sales guy said they are an intelligent gearbox which made me chuckle and that they will get used to you!!! - Am I doing the right thing by choosing the Twin air over the 1.2? and is it good sense to buy an ex demo if you find a spec and colour you like as there seem to be a few around and I am not going for a finance package so do not need to be ordering from new .........

sorry for long winded introduction ......... im happy to be here :)

Look on the Autotrader for one and save some money or get a lounge 500C and spec it up to what you want. The ByGucci might be harder to sell on later and you will probably lose more in depreciation. By the way we have a Yellow 500c and love it.

Hey i have a 500 c 1.4 L duable gearbox black n beige top in my country its called rock edition its higher sepec thn the lounge... Anyway i advice to buy 1 like mine unless u can afford to pay extra cash n forget abt thm n enjoy th label of Gucci ;)

I have a 3 year old 1.2 500c Pop (from new)
Not tried the twin-air but assume there will be even more noise penetrating the cabin.

Daughter has 1.2 Lounge with Duel logic. In normal mode it's OK but if you press 'E' for economy I find there is a significant 'delay'. We tend not to use the econnomy mode.

My 2p. You would be better off getting one 6-12 old if you can find the right spec. colour combination.

I have a two month old 500C twinair lounge but without auto box, however I find it strange that someone says its noisy in the cabin, for a small car it's very refined.

Welcome to the FF jools500.

Engine wise - the sensible choice is the 1.2 but if there isn't enough get up & go you'll probably end up trading for an A500. If you get the TA it might just be enough.
Canvas roof colour. I like the red. Ivory will be hard to keep clean. black is fine.
Ambiance. White is best since the c is dark inside with the roof up.
Wheels. 15 are best but the 16s in the multispoke and the Gucci are very nice.
Dualogic. Let someone else answer that. Not too sure if the steering controls would be nice to have on the TA one.
Colour. Red & black are prone to chipping.

Is the car for yourself or for the Missus ?

If it's for yourself I like the tech house grey with the red roof and the Gucci wheels.

I question the 1.2 being the 'sensible' choice. The Twinair is a phenominal engine, true its not as economical as Fiat claim but as far as smiles per mile I would say its in a league of its own. Married to the C body and its got to be the most addictive car I've driven in a long time.

Just wanted to update you all and thank you for all your help!

Well, I went with my heart, instead of my head and bought the Gucci one (Im a Fashion Blogger so it genuinely works for me - I get completely that not all boys would understand :p) )

I wanted to say a huge Thanks for your great advice about not buying it from the dealer (because I wasnt looking for a finance deal). It really helped as I widened the search and have bought one that is a year old and is just heart stoppingly beautiful.

I went for the 1.2 Manual 500c Convertible

I pick her up in the next couple of days :) so let me introduce you to Mouse!
