Although I'm 90% certain my next car will be a 500, still considering others, and noticed on the Alfa Romeo site that the Mito now comes with the option of a Twin Air engine. Is this the same as the engine in the 500? They also seem to mention Blue&Me aswell

Yep, it's the same one.

Alfa are of course part of the Fiat Group so certain bits are shared throughout the group.

The Chrysler Ypsilon also has the TwinAir engine as well (someone on the Panda 2012 section tried to buy a new Panda TwinAir but ended up getting an Ypsilon TwinAir as the Chrysler dealer was much more helpful and willing to offer discounts).

Yep - that was me with Ypsilon TA.

Worth a look if you fancy something a bit different.

I think the Mito is fair bit heavier than the new Panda & Ypsilon so performance would suffer but 'tis a lovely looking car.

There's a thread on the MiTo and the TA engine on the AF.
JTD_Liam did mention that there were some differences with
- Dual mass flywheel
- Extra noise suppression
- a different exhaust sound which may be to do with the length of the car.

They weren't keen on making it as racy as it is on the 500. Would agree with jimbo that the body of the MiTo is a bit heavy for the TA.

I was in the Ypilson at the w/e at the Ideal Homes exhibition and they had one on show. Quite impressive car and it is supposedly based on the 500 chassis (not too sure if that is a good thing :)). Some neat touches with the 68R option on the driver's pillar and probably a good choice if you needed 5 doors. It came with the 5th seat at the back without having to pay for it.
