Just passed the 1000 mile mark on our 1.2 Lounge, any one had that horrible loud judder from the windscreen wipers when trying to clear light rain from the windscreen, only in the first couple of seconds after switching on, any easy way of stopping it? Spoils what has otherwise been a brilliant motor so far.

I think the stock wipers on the 500 are rubbish mine make a horrible judder as well. I heard on this forum of switching to the Bosch Aerotwin 300 S wiper blades, so I will most likely do that!

Try using the Rain-x from halfords, avoid on plastics/rubber... We have no issues with wipers.

Btw: buff and remove all residue with soft cotton cloth, otherwise screen will smudge for a while.

Personally I found RainX just made it a whole lot worse. Which is strange because I've used it on other cars and it's fantastic.

I'll just link to one of my previous posts:

The OP might want to read through the whole thread.

Thanks for that JR. Just had a read through the thread, what a happy place??!! Was hoping for a 99p solution but doesn't seem to be one, have order A300S wipers from amazon, £21.50 including postage.

Mine did this for a couple of months (new in september) but has stopped now thank goodness! You might find that after they have worn in a bit more the juddering stops. And that's the free option :)

mine did the same (twin air 1000miles) and took me very much by surprise. Only seems to happen on light rain when the rubber sticks and appears to flip the wiper on one side at the front. Im just monitoring how i use it still in terms of intensity of rain and taking it from there. Glad im not the only one who has experienced it tho lol:)

I couldnt take it anymore so I have ordered some Bosch Aerotwins to save my ears and allow a conversation in my car in the rain. I will update on this thread when i see the difference.

My stock wipers were literally scraping against the windscreen as if the wipers were a rock and and the windscreen rock also!

Today i used the new aerotwins for the first time. I could basically not hear them move at all!
Such a huge difference!
I dont even want to think of the old wipers!

Thank you grimwau for recommending me them, I will only replace my wipers with the aerotwins from now on.
