oh and welcome to the forum

Talking of paint code, went into the dealership with mine the other day to order some touch-up paint only to be told Fiat don't make it! It is the Midnight Indigo Blue, but they've been selling them a few months now so I would have hoped the touch-up would be available. Got one or two minor stone chips with more sure to follow. Don't really know what to do, maybe get some lacquer just to protect it?

Did you enquire about getting a small tin of paint as opposed to a touch up 'pen' from a reputable car repair paint 'shop' ?

That's a useful link. Looks to be a far better product than the OEM touch up kits.

I just tried it on the hard to get Pearlescent white and it came up trumps.(y)

P.S. The paint code is under the bonnet on the 500.

This is off the bonnet of a 2009 500 1.4 Lounge. The silver 'badge' left of the catch has the code. There was nothing on the boot lid. It must have changed on later models.

thats where it is on my Punto evo as you say the YTS kid must have put it in the wrong place on yours :p ;)

Just to top this thread off re my link to paints for you i have used them a couple of times now Red paint for my old mans focus and this scratch kit for the Punto evo since Fiat dont do a touch up for "easy listening white" :bang:

anyhow ill let the pics do the talking...

you get the Paint,
Really thin clear coat (which kind of melts the colour coat and blends it in you really need to do one swipe of the paint at a time or it drags thinner repairs)
cleaning solvent
some rather aggressive G3 rubbing compound
coupled with 2 small bits of p2000 wet and dry
a small rubber rubbing block
a bit of microfibre polishing cloth
and 5 double ended painting "spears" think cotton wool buds but very firm cotton with a fine pencil like tip...

Not totally perfect there doesn;t seem to be much in the way of metalic flake compared to the factory paint but i have had that with the Fiat touch up paint in the past and since fiat dont make a touch up stick its my best option i have found today and you get PLENTY of paint for your money

Ive left the photos big so you can have a zoom in for a closer look

I used a spray can from Paints4U a couple of years back. The colour was metallic bronze, and the car was a 10-year old MX-5, but the match was pretty good considering these factors. I'd use them again.
