I have just bought a virtually new 500c, the previous owners added some chrome styling but for some reason did not include the chrome tail pipe.

I have looked online for one to fit the 500c but all sites say not for 500c even the fiat accessories.

Would anyone know where I can buy a chrome tail pipe to finish off my new 500c.

When I pulled the exhaust off my 500 I noticed the chrome tip was welded to the backbox. If you wanted a factory look you'd need a new backbox. If you were doing that I'd say get a stainless steel one. The factory exhausts rot off in a few years anyway. This is the one I ended up with when my factory one gave up the ghost:

Mmm, seems a little odd, I wasn't aware that the exhaust system on the 500c was any different. It's certainly easy enough to find genuine Fiat chrome tail tips on the well known auction site, but at anything between £70 and £90, imo, they are far too expensive for a small piece of cheap chrome plated metal. I'm assuming they just bolt on, hence why you can buy them as an aftermarket accessory.

I was actually trying to get one myself the first three or four weeks after buying our own 500. I sent several enquiries on the well known auction site to car breakers pulling apart 500's. Some of the cars actually had the chrome tail pipe end but I either got no responses whatsoever, or they just wanted to flog me the whole back box for £100. Seems these days for some, a no sale is preferable to any sale. Paying the same price as new for a second hand piece of genuine accessory, would be barmy, so I'm not bothering at all. I'll make whatever decision needs making when the time comes to replace the back box, but I'll probably end up buying a stainless steel replacement back box and centre section anyway.

Yes there do seem to be some stupid people on ebay.

I was trying to find some doors and wings for our Legacy and the amount of people who simply wanted ridiculous money for them was hilarious. There's not many of them on the road so not much demand and it's not something which is incredibly well loved so if someone's got a dented door they're hardly going to be bothered.

jnoiles, what tires do you have on your car?

The ones in that picture are Contisport 2's on 16" O spokes. Which are absolutely rubbish.

I run and prefer T1R's on the 15"s mostly. I scrubbed the fronts so until I can be arsed taking them around to get new ones fitted I'm on 16"s :)

Yeah i have the contis and will not be buying new contis when they wear out. I keep on hearing about how good Nokians are. And since their speciality is in the Finish winter i assume they would be quite good in the wet!

Certain Conti's are good. I quite like Conti Premium contact 2's but they're not meant to be a sporty tyre and I've not really asked much of them. They're a touring tyre. Conti Sport Contact 1's which I think is what these are, are a fairly old design so by their nature aren't going to be as good as a newer design of tyre, especially for someone like Jason who obviously asks a lot of them.

The chrome tail pipe comes standard on the Lounge & Sport models. It also comes with the Chrome option once it's fitted at the 'factory' i.e at the time of ordering.

I don't know why the Fiat site says 'not the 500c'. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't fit. Anyway, it's a lot of money for what it is.

I have seen some 'Pop' owners fit an 'off the shelf' circular chrome sleeve. A trip to halfords could do it. Here's an example of one.

My preference would be to try an emaulate the one fitted on the 500. An example. Worthwhile checking the width of the tail pipe for a snug fit so that it wouldn't fall off !
Note: I haven't fitted either of them and I have not used the ebayer.

Or you could just buy one of my special TT Mk500 rear boxes. made entirely of mirror-polished 304 Stainless Steel with a 110mmx80mm oval finisher.

So not only do you get the looks, you get a much better sound and you get a rust resistant and long-living rear silencer.

Go on treat yourself for Christmas. I've got a couple left.

Any pics of it fitted to a 500? I'm interested depending on how it looks.

I can testify to the utter crap quality of fiat exhausts I just had to shell out 216 to replace the flexi pipe section inbetween the dpf and the cat. I also have to replace the back box as an advisory due to an mot failure on the first pipe id love to buy a S/S back box the way to go IMO - but money dictates i get a standard box and a 20 quid tailpipe from said well known auction site.

I have a rear box that would solve that problem!

Stainless steel straight through so a bit more sporty and several very happy customers from this forum

I know i like your boxes neil - if i coulda got away with replacing just the flexi pipe instead of full pipe and the flexi section, that woulda been my next move - had to buy the fiat part which cleaned me out.
Hope they sell well they look great - Incidentally is the diameter of the pipe which connects to the centre pipe 43.5mm?
