Does anyone know how to open the fabric roof on the cabrio with the key fob I asked in the dealer when I collected the car today and was advised it doesnt do this however it shows it being open and closed with the fob on YouTube and a auto express review of the car says it will do it. Anyone able to hp it is 2011 car so maybe they have taken this function away.

I wonder if the manual tells you all this info.....

Indeed it does, in the 500c supplement, albeit not very clearly. However, I have heard that sometimes the supplement is missing or gets overlooked because of it's format.

Mind you the translation can be a little confusing. *Hold the release button pressed C-fig 5 to stop the top until the button is released in any position*

jakedeano is sadly one of those people who comes on here and asks before looking at his manual.....

It also seems quite logical, all the cars I've had with remote (un)locking with the exception of the 500 have had this facility on the electric windows so it's the first thing I'd try!

Bizarrely: no. :-(

Money saving I suppose :(

No, you can open the roof with the key fob but you can't close it.

Ah right. Seems a bit backwards. Although I'm sure they have their reasons.

Me be worth someone checking if you can do it with the key in the door also.

Insert key and turn to unlock and hold it in the ulocked possition for a few seconds and see if it'll open the roof.

Its how you can do the windows on the Stilo with the key in the door, or the remote.

Re: How to open 500c roof with key fob + 500c Recall

The roof will open to the first open position (Spoiler position) when you press the key fob unlock button keep it pressed. This is all it will do, it will not open fully because of the boot interlock. It will not close in the same way, to close you need to press the close button inside.
Did anyone know that the 500C's are being recalled for a roof problem, I was told this by my dealer because I have now suffered the same problem twice, it has had a new roof ECU and now there is an updated ECU so it is going in next Wednesday to have this done. 130 mile round trip!
This will be the fourth time it has had work done in the five months I have had the car, Fiat/Abarth customer service is proving to be, unfortunately, very frustrating, comedy of errors springs to mind.
They do not seem to be able to communicate very well with themselves or the customer. They phone me, leave a message to phone them, I phone them and they are on another phone, leave message to phone me back.....nothing.

... i know this post was a few years ago, I bought my fiat 500c in dec last 2015, its 2010 plate, and i have had issues with the roof not working, but i never had a user manual with the car, does anyone have a pfd copy they can put up ? and also how would i know if this car was part of the recall?
