I'm looking at modding my 500 so it sounds like a big bad animal but i'm not too sure on the route to take.

I was at japfest yesterday and alot of jap tuners have decat exhausts (illegal) but i was looking at a compromise solution (Highflow) which doesnt take the cat out of the car but allows it to still pop and bang just like i want...

Does anyone know of a solution that will make me happy but also allow my MOT to be a pass?

According to an iphone app Emssions equality the MJ 75bhp (that's of course if you have a Multi-jet) is in band F at 525mg/km with Nitrogen Oxides at 139mg/km. It might be best to leave the CATs alone.

i'm not too sure if it is a mj, it's the 1.2 sport Fiat 500 ByDiesel :/

I wasn't sure - your signature said Diesel500Roger.
On a 1.2 69bhp the recommendations is to buy a bigger engine like a 1.4 or the TA which a lot of members are very happy with. Unless the Panda guys have managed to squeeze some extra brake out of the 1.2. Nuova do an ITG CAI which they have claimed gives 76bhp but I have seen no RR to back it up - but by all accounts is very good.

Sports cat are quite expensive remember seeing the word 200 cell. If you start to messing with the cats you maybe into cat light problems. I know even less about the 1.2. If the back box has 'done it's time' how about changing it to a nice one. There's a guy on here who sells the ragawhatever and it would be priced keenly. What budget would you have in mind ?
(on a iPhone - excuse any typos)

sorry its not a diesel its a 500 ByDiesel its a petrol 1.2... but it definately doesnt sound as raughty as i'd like... I don't know what the market is like for 500 mods as i've not really seen any modded like what im wanting to do. If someone can point me in the right direction for them it would be brilliant. :slayer:

What is it you want to do with your car? If you are looking at a fire breathing monster you may have started with the wrong car.

If you are looking to do other mods on the car let us know what you want to do and I am sure we can point you in the right direction.

well lowering is one of the things i want to do, then i want it to sound raughtier and louder like this but i dont think its even possible from a 1.2 without turboing.... and yes i realise the one on this vid is a 2.0 with a garrett exhaust.

but it needs to be lowered like this one from the cartel parts website... infact this one is exactly the profile im after from mine

as some of the posts say here if you run a downpipe and sports cat you may illuminate the dash like a christmas tree, also an expensive option, may be better looking at a less silenced cat back

i run a sports cat and non resonated catback on my rocco and the ecu code is tweaked accordingly so no lights and enabled further release of extra ponies and more noise

To get it to look like that you will need photoshop.
The wheels are not that big and it has been lowered in photoshop.

To lower it is easy just buy some springs... about £150 and fit them or pay someone to do it (about 2 hours work)
As for the wheels they don't make the by diesel wheels any larger that 16 inch.
You could put 18 inch wheels on it but the best bet is a set of 17's
here is the same car standard springs with abarth 17 inch wheels

ok ignoring the size of the wheels but maintaining the lowness is there a specific make i should be buying for reliabilty and performance? Also what about the sound? is there a way to get the raughty loud sound i'm after without spending 100s?

Without spending £100's? No
Everything you are looking at doing is going to cost £100's

Just bolt on a back box and it will give you a nicer sound, it is not going to spit flames of make you go any faster but it will sound nice.
As for the springs there are a few makes around.
If you are looking at lowering I will get some prices for a set of springs for you.

yes would be brilliant if you could, £150 sounds reasonable. Im after the same lowering as your photoshop... also regarding the picture you posted, have you taken the diesel pillar from between the side windows?

Yes I have taken all of the by diesel stuff off.
The pillar trim is off, the rear trim under the window is off

The mirrors are now carbon fiber.

The only thing that says diesel is the gear knob and I am looking at changing that.

each to their own I suppose, but can I ask why? If you wanted unbranded why did you get a branded car?

I'm not denying it looks good but I would've started with an unbranded car... as I said though each to their own and I love the 500 no matter what it looks like

They only had a by diesel in stock when i got it. If i had of ordered one the VAT rate would have gone up and I had a £30,000 car to trade in that was depreciating about £300 per month. It was cheaper to get the by diesel than get a sport.
