Hi all,
It looks like the time has come to begrudgingly sell my 500 and buy a Fiat Doblo. Combination of needing a large vehicle for business use and also for potential child carriage.

Anyhow, apologies if this shouldn't be posted here but I've been trying to work out what price to advertise it at and have been looking at autotrader etc. The prices seem to vary wildly so I'm still none the wiser as to price. The spec is: Black Lounge 1.2, no side strips, has the sport alloys, interscope, chrome bits, Blue & me, air con etc and has done less than 3k miles with FSH. It's an 09 plate registered in March 2009.

Any ideas on how much I should be thinking about taking for it? This isn't an advert for my car by the way, I genuinely am in need of some advice from the experts! (you lot :) )

Thanks for any help anyone may be able to give,

Ewan

Some of those "We buy your car" websites would be worth a look. Usually you can get a bit more than those if you sell private, but the websites may be worth considering too since it's reasonably hassle free. :)

I wouldn't use them unless I was completely desperate. Even if I did not have experience of them making insanely low offers for cars, I would be very sceptical of how much profit they must need to clear on each car to justify a national TV advertising campaign. After all, they just sell your car on...

whatcar.com states £8400 to sell privately or £7300 to trade in.
You may be able to get more with interscope. Also yours isn't white so should be more demand for it (y)

Thanks for the replies. WBAC offered 6,700 !! I think not.....lol.....

I have a bit of an idea now.

Thanks!

:)

Keep trying, I have been offered £8500 trade in for our July 1.2 09 Lounge in white! Mind you that was against a 1.4 sport in white which was not stupidly priced either. Still thinking about that one.

The one with the TV ad.and silly tune made the lowest offer when i sold my Panda 100HP.I sold it to another Fiat dealer for £1200 more than they offered.
All car dealers work on a mark up of £1500 as a minimum. The dealer i sold it to said he would only put it for sale at a £1000 mark up,but i just laughed.
One week later when i drove past it was on the front with a price of £1500 more than he paid me for it,just as i knew it would be.
I was still happy because i got the best price, loads more than some clowns offered, and a hassle free sale.

Sorry what?

Just giving an idea of what the car could be worth in a private sale. So the OP's car is a lounge rather than a sport and it's slightly older than ours was when we bought it, but I don't think £8500 ish is an unreasonable expectation.

Most people here seem to have bought their cars new, as ours was second hand I thought it was reasonable to comment. Obviously I was wrong.

My 59 plate 500 lounge is probably worth in the region of £8500 after a year i paid £8900 with scrappage so i think that is pretty amazing

I had a brand new clio in 2004 which also was £10500 new (not including scrappage) and after 9 months i was offered £4500 for it!

Our other car is a 2006 Renaultsport Megane R26 we paid £13000 for it last december its now worth about £8500 if we are lucky!

So since my Mum was trying me to persuade me to get a VW Fox as the 500 would be worth peanuts after a year im glad i took no notice and stuck to my guns cos that would be worth peanuts!
