I'm sure while trawling through the last years worth of historic posts for interesting bits of info I saw info on the following....or did I imagine it.

1. I'm sure I read that the shelf in the dashboard has a tiny glove compartment built into the roof of it - is this true?

2. Also I'm sure I read that someone had specifically requested their dealer glue the reg plates on rather than screwed them on, if I didn't imagine this what's the benefits of gluing rather than screwing?

thanks in advance!

no you didn't imagine:

1 - yes little secret hinged shelf ideal for storing the service book (y)
2 - there was a monumentally anal thread about not using the correct pre-drilled fixing holes... yes stick on plates are the way forward - avoids all those unsightly screw head caps and the horror of self tapping screws into the paint ;)

It must be really hidden if you didn't know it was there :p

it is pretty obvious when you look closely(y)

how to open it is more logical that you might think;)

ps you look lovely in your avatar pic

Eki, I presume you found the one on the side of the middle bit where the gear stick is. A very small pocket that you can't get your hand in. Not sure what you're supposed to store in it! If I put coins in it, I couldn't get them out again as my fingers aren't long enough.

It pulls open, you know?

As some people didn't know it was there and those that did know forgot about it, does this mean it's perhaps not the most useful of storage compartments?

Its not that deep, so you're not gonna get massive things in there. But like Rob says its ideal for handbook/service book or similar.
And I've only recently discovered it (in the last fortnight) and I've had my car a year so in terms of out-of-view-ness its great! To be honest I thought it was an air bag compartment so I decided to avoid fiddling with it, lol.

I put coins and my memory sticks in there. But I have long, boney fingers like a skeleton so I can fish them back out again (y)

Run it past me slowly please. Have located the drop down panel in glove box area but opening catch seems stuck - manual unclear - do you push it forwards or back towards self or upwards, or sideways? Have tried all gently - nothing happens, reluctant to try any more force for fear of breaking plastic or nails!

IIRC, you push it away from you, then the whole thing drops down to reveal the access.

Lloyd - Mine is different.

With your palm upwards, put your fingers as far as you can in the slot, then just bend the very tips of your fingers against the plastic towards you and it will release the catch.

Once you've got it open, you'll be able to see how it works
