Just got my hands on a 2008 1.2 Lounge, beautiful car :D
Kids love it, wife even more.

The car has a meta alarm fitted , and the 2nd remote FOB doesn't seem to operate it. Have tested the batteries and they are fine. This makes the 2nd key useless as the alarm goes off when you open the door :bang:
Main key is operating the alarm correctly.

I'm guessing the fob needs to be recoded to the alarm , does anyone have an idea on how to do this on the 500's alarm?

Thanks for any help

Tony

Need more info, remote fobs for Meta alarm systems are available in three different formats, 8 digit fixed code, 16 digit hexadecimal encryption coded and self coding randomly encrypted remotes which one have you got?

All Meta alarms are supplied with a code printed on a red or blue codecard, these codes cannot be found elsewhere unless hand written on a receipt or certificate by the supplying dealer/fitter etc. If the code is lost or missing it will not be possible to program a new fob. However we can re-code the M870, M8700, M2087, M996, M928, M99T, M99T2, M187, M871 and HPA range of alarms systems with two new fobs and a new codecard for future programming. Only the alarms mentioned above can be re-coded.

The fob is round with 3 buttons, isn't the alarm fitted on 500's the same model on all of them? How do i work out what the model is.

I have the red card, wanted to see if I could do it myself before going back to the dealer. Would the alarm be covered by the warranty?

I dont think the alarm would be covered by the cars warranty as its an accessory fitted post manufacture but it should be covered if fitted professionaly and goes faulty within 12 months, have a look at this website to see if you can see your remote/alarm http://www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarms/remote_controls/meta-remotes.html
