Look under the seat. There are two connectors. One is for airbag. One is the seat sensor. Unplug the right one. I can't remember off hand which is which.

Presumably this is just for when you're manoevering round your yard /driveway /garage ;) That would mean it's only for a few seconds - either put up with it or fix the seatbelt in place before you sit in it (you could use a spare seatbelt clip from a scrapyard if you didn't want to have the belt across)

if it was only going to be for a few seconds what does it matter if it dings

Quick one (I don't have time to read manual etc till weekend) can you lower seatbelts? If so can someone let me know how - I'm a bit of a midget... Ta :)

In the days before height adjustable belts were the norm it used to be possible to buy brackets to lower the seatbelt top mounting. Basically this was a piece of suitably strong steel which was bolted into the original top mounting bolt hole and the original top mount bolted into the lower part. Fine if the car only ever has one driver or multiple short drivers. I've not seen these around in many years although it would be relatively easily made.
