Drove about 20 miles this morning, stopped, took child to nursery, about 10 mins later tried to start car and it wouldn't start (did that turning over noise) and the words "can check" came up on radio. Turned key off, turned on and it started.

Any help? Is it something i need to take to the dealer about?

Do you wait between putting key in the ignition, letting it do the checks, then turning the key to start her up?

er............... no..........no-one told me this. Thought you only had to do that on diesel cars........

Just a trick that seemed to work on the Stilo, that was very prone to all sorts of start-up errors [as well as every other error under the sun...]

Is there anything on the dash to say checks are being done, or not? Saying that, I can't recall anything happening on the Panda dash :chin:

I know others have had this problem occassionally and the same advice was given, saying that,never had a problem starting mine, just other probs lol

possibly immobiliser related (I had a Saxo which did this occasionally), the engine turns but the ECU won't provide fuel?

A Can check means the car is checking the computer settings. Always turn the key and wait for the whirring to stop and all the lights to go out, theres a lot of stuff the car does before starting, its not official but it does work.
