Right now I'm really enjoying being one of the few 500s on the roads, I always get admiring looks from other drivers :D

Do you think in a year or so the 500 will be everywhere? I hope not. :(

I don't want it to be another Mini. Cry....

In Valencia there are a fair few going about now, mostly in red and white. It's a good little car and estate agents tend to know about good investments i.e Mini so it isn't looking good for the trendsetter. If you want a really exclusive FIAT maybe a Croma would have been a better bet.....

To be honest I've not had that much interest in mine.... :(

Even with the writing on it, lol!

My panda gets more attention! (but then again you can spot it from space on Google earth, lol!)

Well if Foxtons are going form Minis to 500s that will boost their already inflated profits. Ah maybe not.... there is a property slump at the moment. Every cloud has a silver lining and they will be hurt more than most. Their valuations tend to be, take a guess and add a lot.

I think it will be, at least in the UK anyway. Its affordable and pleasing to the eye, so should be a big seller.

People asked the same question about the GP and look how many there are on the roads now.

I was just wondering if Fiat had actually delivered any 500's to be honest! Considering they were launched back in January, even including dealer cars, to date I've seen more '08 plate Aston Martin's on the road than I have Fiat 500's in the UK!

i dont think they will be common for a small car its quite expensive i mean realy you'r looking at £9500 upwards for a decent model and most other small cars on the road offer more for the same money ( the panda for example ). the 500 will never be as sought after as the mini simply because of badge snobbery ( fiat v bmw ) plus fiat say they are only building 4000 uk cars per year, most people looking for a modern retro will buy a 2nd hand mini rather than a new 500, which suits me just fine..

I agree. More common, certainly, but for people wanting very practical small cars the new Suzuki/Vauxhall thing will be more attractive, and there is the new Hyundai i10, which offers a lot of well equipped small car for a lot less cash. When this gets a 1200cc motor at the end of the year it will really compete. And there is still the Panda.

Obviously there is a differing market here; practicality with economy versus chic fashion statement. Fashion always costs, and the 500 has cuteness in spades, and soon there will be the performance versions to tempt the brave. But it is a Fiat, and lots of people are pretty ignorant and sheepishly accept historic prejudices. Good; this will, I hope, keep the 500 slightly rarer than the MINI. Oh, until the twin cylinder engines kick in , and oil hits 130 a barrel, then all snobbery will fly out the window and anyone left with money to spend will flock to Fiat:devil:

I think this car will be more of a fashion accessory.

Its great looking and italian cars are cool to own generally.

It's not going to be like the mini because one of the motives of having one of them was the fact its BMW. People wont buy the 500 because its a Fiat.. they will buy it for what it states and symbolises.

So you won't see as many 500s on the road as Mini's, for a start you wont see many men driving them

jeez I live in Edinburgh and I haven't seen a single one! And I was supposed to have been driving my own for at least 5 days now!

.... Most non-petrol head people don't know what they are yet. There are very few on the road and the advertising has stopped - so.... for the time being it is just us select few that have ordered/received our little cars and it's down to us to sing its praises.

We are members of a very exclusive club at the moment.. enjoy it while it lasts, but I do hope it is successful... I want to see another one to wave at!!
