General Prices for UK 500 Announced!

I dont quite understand why anyone would want one of the first RHD cars. Let them be on sale for a few months so that Fiat iron out all the teething troubles and reliability issues that accompany any new model.
I had a brand new Micra in 2003, and a mate had a very early 2003 model which was atrocious build wise. My car had loads of little detail changes, even the whole dashboard was redesigned assembly wise. Mine certainly wasnt fault free but the early ones had loads of problems, failing piston rings were one.
Just sit back, wait for all this and then watch the discounts arrive and smile to yourself when you pay £8000 for that Lounge from Fiat Supersaver:)

Dealers will be hopefully getting their demos just before crimble. So if anyone wants a drive pop into your local friendly dealer. Or just all come and see me :D

How many 500s going out from your garage to customers 21 jan pwig and dont be afraid to say where your dealership is based there will be a few more punters (mugs :) ) like kevin who want to try one before they buy one.

You could Ignore the hype and wait for the froth to die down but how long before fiatsaver/motorpoint supermarket and dealer discounts come on the 500, based on what happened with other fiats? Oneyear two year?

And a bag of twiglets says you dont get a test drive in a rhd one before crimbo. They hold on to them for weeks at the bristol walon compound dont they?To get them for crimbo they;d have to be arriving in the uk in the next week or so!
They are coming by ship container ship not speedboat.

The cars are arriving by train!!! 3 days from Docks to portbury.

We have be told they should be arriving before crimbo. I bet you a bag of twiglets they will be here as well! :D

I'm based in the North West of England.

In answer to your question. 2 Years before fiat supasaver or motorpoint offer big discounts.

Maybe never if Fiat get their arses into gear.

Perhaps we are all mugs for buying new cars and suffering the inevitable depreciation, but I definately want to try before I buy.:D

The independent and family run Fiat dealerships sometimes have the advantage when it come to new cars arriving. (The dealers near me are part of a dealer group and cars go via their central holding area first which can cause a bit of a delay.:(

.

Our Demo is arriving mid december.
:D

Why everyone isn't speccing black with red leather I don't know... :yum:

pwig you t*****! what are you doing here (stupid question I know)? given up on PH for a while?
What happened to giving me a call? or were you just lying to me on saturday? (*sob*)

so when can I come over and give one of these new beauties a spin?

When we get one in!!!!
Oops I did promise a price list on Saturday. What was your email addy again? I'll whizz some info over.

It won't happen because A) It's not a build em high sell em cheap car.

b) It's all about speccing your own car

c) Dealer margins are minute.

:DMake sure you tell us when your demos arrive pwig.....
somehow I think you are going to be very popular next month.:D

Get the Twiglets in Ms_Cinq. The demos are likely to arrive before Xmas....even if some of the customers' orders take months and months:p

It's be-nice-to-be-Fiat-dealers time
Some of them are as exasperated with Fiat UK as we are.

The panda only has about 2 options. The 500 has about 2 million.

Slight exageration but you get the idea ;)

Statement by Piccadilly Motors main Fiat dealers in Knaresborough in their 500 advertisement.

"Please bear in mind that the initial UK stock is now sold out until April 2008 and future orders are by allocation only."

Is this fact or bullshine?
If true we arent goin to get discountsfor a while. (n)

Those of you thinking about it get your Panda orders in now because the 500 discounts, if any, are years away.

Fiat are always going to discount, the 500 wont be such a wanted car after the initial people who have to have the latest fashion accessory buy theirs. At the end of the day its just a Panda in a pretty bodyshell, and once everyone realises this and the press get bored with the looks it will be discounted... no ones going to carry on paying a premium for them like now. Look how hard it is to sell the LHD ones, with the new Beetle they sold like hot cakes. Fiat dont have the name or reputation to sustain the interest, and once the new comers to Fiat realise how poor the dealers are they wont buy another:)
Its all hype and bull at the moment, its not a special car at all, its not a 500 and its not even got a decent engine line up at the start. Its just another good small Fiat that will appeal to Fiat enthusiasts and the fashion victims alone. Ive said it before, its an £8000 car, nothing more.
