General An Impulse Buy

What with my recent challenges with Barry's clutch and carburetor and more yet to sort, I thought, for some unknown reason, it would be a good idea to buy another 500

At $900 (GBP450 or US600) I just couldn't not buy it (actually went halves with a friend)
It's a '69 F, sold new in NZ, probably NZ assembled and it has, I'm told, had new front wings, bonnet and front panel fitted. Driver side sill needs replacement and there are two small holes in the floor. Has a gearbox but no engine and is missing headlights, rear seat and a few other items. Picking it up on Saturday.

You'll be hearing more from me no doubt.

I think a similar 69 sold for more than $5k a few months ago

Yes, it certainly seems cheap, even by NZ standards. I actually know the guy we are buying it from. I had seen the car on FB marketplace a few months back for $500, advertised as a VW Bambina. I told him about it as it was local for him. He bought it for the bonnet for his D restoration but it turns out an F bonnet won't fit a D. So we've bought it from him and he makes a few $$ for his trouble.
I'll report back after we've collected it tomorrow.
