Off Topic We don't realise what a nice car we have...

I sold my 500 1.4 Sport and bought a Bravo 1.4 TJet Sport
Bravo is a better car in every respect, I even got a younger car and £1100 in change :)

But the 500 has the 'cool' factor which makes it desirable and priced accordingly

We should feel very lucky in the UK that the Bravo is such a bargain, not the case in Europe

I went to look at the new Alfa the other day and concluded the Bravo was better

Yeah, shows you what a good deal the Bravo is. Why anyone would buy a 500 for more money perplexes me (unless for insurance reasons or worries about long term value). I turned down the Alfa GT for the Bravo - I still wonder whether it was the right decision...

I hate to point it out... but...

(And yes, I knew what you meant, but still :p)

ask most people in the UK and they will talk about 'the continent' and 'europe' when referring to the other countries in the European Union

Remember UK still not in € (y)

We are part of the European Union but still proudly a sovereign state...

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (y)

Not the United States of Europe (n)

i think it is a shame that as you drive between France, Belgium, Germany Italy the borders are just another road sign...

The GT is exceptionally pretty and I can assure you it has the X factor, when I used to drive my GT it never failed to make me smile, it felt special. It's pretty to look at, it is very comfortable and you feel like your in a proper sports car, a proper GT.

However, the GT runs on an old elongated Tipo chassis and it looks better than it drives, it doesn't handle fantastically, it should have been rear wheel drive, the suspension isn't great, the visibilty is poor and it has the turning circle of an oil tanker.

However again, the Bravo has never made me feel as good as the GT when driving it, it doesn't have the street prescence or the kudos of the GT and it feels like any other C sector hatch I've driven, just another Eurobox.........................

Thanks for the Wikipedia article, I am very familiar with the UK's situation within the European Union, thank you very much :p

I don't think it is a shame at all that the borders are just another road sign - the Schengen treaty makes travelling a hell of a lot easier.

Were it just for the free movement of people, it would make it a lot quicker to get back into the UK every time - instead of the cold and unfriendly welcome you get from HMRC at the "UK BORDER". Not so much as a "welcome home"... That said, if we want to keep terrorists and illegal immigrants out, then such checks are needed. THAT said, they tend to find a way in anyway...

The level of scepticism within the UK does nothing to help its own cause. There are so many things which people could benefit from which they are unaware of or unwilling to find out about.

Look at the French - the balance sheet of contributions/withdrawals is well weighted in their favour, why don't we try to reap the benefits of it, rather than criticising and trying to bring it down all the time?

Anyway, this is :Offtopic: :p [/rant]

Easy answer to that is the Euro experiment has failed and although the UK was arrogant enough to stay out of it their sovereignty plan failed too, so regardless of what your status is if you live in Europe it's likely your country is in a mess.....................

Back on topic, oooohhh, aaaahhhh, let's not forget what a nice car we have!

I do live in Europe, I live in Southampton, and yes, my country is in a mess.

I have both.

H'mmm I assumed that all the Dynamics' I'd looked at with the refrigerated armrests didnt have the rear vent. Is it an optional feature? I do have parking sensors though - they're crap!

What a load of cobblers! We most certainly are part of Europe and always have been. The European Union is a collection of countries in Europe but by no means all of them. The Euro has absolutely nothing to do with Europe except that the countries that use it are located within the European continent. Also, if you brush up on your European history you will know that all the countries in Europe are sovereign states!

Europe is a continent that the UK is part of. I dont know where you are getting this "proud to be a soverign state" stuff from but it's not accurate.

Are you a Tory in disguise? ;)

Only MODS can close a subject, I'd gamble that the majority of Brits are just too pleased about not being in the Euro-zone. Personally I want nothing to do with Europe & its dictatorial spoutings, if the UK gets in a mess I want it to be OUR mess not some other weird Europhile's, regardless of financial shinanegans that the French manage to pull off via the odd Political drivel peddled from Brussels etc...

What frustrates me is that the 500 is selling in droves, yet the Bravo which is a great looking car isn't selling at all. The cars are from the same manufacturer, the only difference is that the 500 has history and retro kicks behind it. Suprises me how fickle people are really, especially in these hard times when you consider what a bargain the Bravo is.

People are fickle, thats part of the problem.

The other part is that Fiat continues to spend its marketting budget on telling people that they make a car called the 500, when everyone knows fool well they do because they see one on every journey. Meanwhile the unpainted Bravo shells sit in a factory in Italy because knowone's been told isince 2008 that Fiat make a Focus rival :bang:

I have a Dynamic and I have both the refrigerated armrest and the rear vent. I would of thought the rear vent was standard across the range??

As for the parking sensors I think they are fantastic :D

Yah!

Just got my new (old) TJet 120 Active yesterday, and after 2 months of having to suffer a Citreon C4, I can't begin to describe how happy I am.

Fiat Bravo - best car I've ever had bar none. If you haven't got one/had one, then you can't "get it"...

Chuffed :D

Totally agreed, it's just in a completely different league. Wanted a new car in the Focus / Golf region and after my brother bought a Abarth Grande Punto I realised how Fiat had upped their game.

I genuinely look forward to driving my car home and after working a night shift finishing early in the morning I genuinely get cheered up by thought of driving my Bravo home.
