Hi all,

The watersensor of our diesel fuel filter broke and is now leaking diesel. We are stranded in Spain and have to wait until monday to get help.

Is there anything we can do ourselves to ‘repair’ the problem so that the diesel isn’t leaking anymore. Searching for a temporary fix to get to the next destination.

Our camper is an Adria Matrix M 670SL from 2016. Fiat Ducato diesel engine

You may find a Motor Factor who can supply a new fuel filter with a plastic screw in blank from new or even a filter without the option to screw in a water sensor.
I can't tell from your photo, but if yours is held in with a clip that may not be possible.
Not likely but if you had the fittings for the pipes you could bypass the fuel filter temporarily. Don't physically damage or alter the fuel pipes as Fiat charge a lot of money for the flow and return pipes as a unit!!!

Unlikely, but if is a screw in water sensor and you can get the old broken thread out, it may be possible to use it as a match to get the correct size bolt and use the rubber sealing ring from the broken sensor to make a blank.
Obviously you would still have an error code up for the water sensor.

To expand on this post by @bugsymike , it may be the case that the thread is an ISO (international) standard. ISO pipe threads are based on BS pipe threads, and the size relates to the pipe bore with a nominal 1/8" wall thickness. This means that 1/2" pipe thread is approximately 3/4" over the thread, likewise a 3/8" fitting would be about 5/8" over the thread. Such plugs would be available at a plumbers merchant, or a hardware supermarket.

If being forced down this route, only accept a parallel threaded brass plug that could be sealed with a washer or "O" ring. Do not use a taper threaded iron plug. It could split the housing.
